Why is $5 a big deal? It's an invite only program to start with. Seems that they don't want to waste their time or money sending $50 cheques every week to small affiliates when they can focus on affiliates that actually make them money, makes sense to me.
If you don't like the $5 fee, turn up your min payout to $500 or $1000 and im sure they'll have no problem sending your cheques for free.Last edited by stev0; 01-09-2007, 10:13 AM.Comment

Yes, Mayor said there is the "big check" option which starts at $500, so select that and your checks will be cut when you hit $500 and there is no fee for that. Why is $5 a big deal? It's an invite only program to start with. Seems that they don't want to waste their time or money sending $50 cheques every two weeks to small affiliates when they can focus on affiliates that actually make them money, makes sense to me.

More of my
I have learned alot from Will by reading alot of his good posts. Im really surprised he would start a board battle with a huge program owner over a $5 check fee. Im thinking that the $5 wont hurt most on this board?

I have to tell you getting pissed over a $5 is not small time its smart. When I worked for rolls royce I had customers that could buy and sell everyone on this board. They would bitch about a dollar too much. Its called a respect for the money you earn. Also Mayor didnt start this big program for the affiliates sake he did it for his own which is not a bad thing but Aaron trying to paint him as Mother Theresa is a bit much. No one should have to pay to get a check, its bad business period. I think most companies have a attitude that if I can get away with it why not. Considering the people jumping on here to praise the move it makes the decision easy lol.
By the way I have a friend he is a head hunter does big fees from fortune 500 companies and they all pay by check.Comment

I'm not starting a board battle with anyone over this, he can charge $500 a check cashing fee for all I care. I also don't care who the person is I disagree with, if he is a huge program owner or someone who makes $200 a week, i am not going to act differently or treat the person differently.
You are right the $5 dollars wouldn't hurt many people even if they promote 20 sponsors who charge it. I don't have anything against Mayor's program inparticular, I don't agree with charging people a check a fee. I think it is rediculas and bad business regardless if you can afford to pay it. His reasons were bullshit and his attitude was terrible. A good rule for people to follow on a messageboard if you don't want people to reply to what you posted then you might not want to post anything in the first place. Especially when you act like an ass, don't be surprised when people call you an ass.
The only reason I kept posting in this thread is because I am amazed how some people here are reacting. Some people obviously can't handle criticism well at all. If they disagree with you then you must be a broke, 8 hits a day noob. Then there is the " it's only $5 comments" I guess these people have failed to miss several issues here or they just prefer to trivialize it as just being a couple dollars so it is no big deal.
Since other companies do it too perhaps someone should start a " Which programs charge a check fee " thread. I would be curious to see which other ones do.
Mayor the byotp idea really wasn't a bad one if you guys are looking to cut corners.

much better then the " this is good move mayor people need to move up to digital age, i don't use checks any more, US only country that does, checks are stupid, it is only $5 why cry about it " posts.ICQ: 86364801 Email: will [at] innovativeassets [dot] com

Its not about cutting corners, Epass costs us more, but its more productive and efficient. So for our business the least number of checks we have to send the more time we can spend on other things more productive...

You guys make it hard to walk away from a thread.perhaps your designers, account reps, owners, etc shouldn't be the ones sending the checks. Don't you have an accountant or in house book keeper (secretary)? How is it hurting your affiliates if your secretary has to spend a couple extra hours a week filling out the checks, printing them, licking the stamp, putting the check in enevelope, dropping it in the mail ? Does the secretary double as an account rep and design person as well ? I don't even have affiiliates and I have someone part time to handle all of my accounting matters.
Now if you are the ones who have to cut checks then you really do have problems, bigger than this issue anyway ( i doubt this is the case). If you have an non important employee that handles all of that stuff then your argument is pretty baseless.ICQ: 86364801 Email: will [at] innovativeassets [dot] com

No offence buddy but this comment demonstrates how truly ignorant most of GFY is. I suggest you attempt not reporting your income paid by non-us/non 1099 affiliate programs, it'll be fun to watch you explain what you thought you understood.
Even if you are not given a 1099 (sometimes they get lost or never issued) Your REQUIRED BY LAW to pay tax on all income.
Will76, I am flattered at creepy stalker way you attempt to ascertain my intentions by creeping around this thread playing "amateur sleuth" when you could simply ask me directly. Do I intimidate you? Are you trying to "make your bones" by cutting your teeth on me?Comment

Its not just the sending them, its the lost, stolen, mail issues, etc that go along with them... Last week for example I had 8 affiliates hit me up, because the lost, washed, or whatever their checks... So it took my time, the accountants time, stop payment, re-issue, etc and yet none of our thousands of affiliates had epassporte issues....You guys make it hard to walk away from a thread.

We've had no one fruad our Epassporte account, yet atempts to fruad checks has happen more than once over the years...Looking for Opportunity!

I don't use checks where possible as the costs associated with them are ridiculous (banks charges etc.). However i'll never agree that we as affiliates should bare the costs of getting paid. I honestly can't think of any industry that adds a cost to pay their sales people/contractors etc... Who else does this?TripleXPrint on Megan Fox

I completely understand why you guys are doing the check thing, hell it doesn't even really bother me that a program is doing that, but why do you have to be so rude and condescending when people are asking questions?
Take tony404 up above, he asked a legitimate question, and in turn got called ignorant
By doing that, you, in turn, have become just like the people you keep bashing here on GFYComment

I asked a question like it said didnt make a statement, asking questions is how the ignorant learn.I dont deal with offshore companies to pay others. Its not worth calling my accountant to ask him. Also Im not affiliate I run my own sites and the small amount we do with affiliate stuff in our sites, they all send us checks. No offence buddy but this comment demonstrates how truly ignorant most of GFY is. i don't use them anyway but speaking generally, i wouldn't use any sponsor that charged me, for paying me what i had earned, out of principal. what a joke. i can understand charging for wires on smaller amounts, that's fair enough, but checks are the standard form of payment. i know epassporte is getting more popular now but i wouldn't trust epassporte or any other non-major bank with anything more than pocket change.Comment

No-one with any financial sense willingly pays fees, whether they be $5 or $5K, let alone defends them. If anything, it would be far more logical to oppose such fees when the opportunity arises: certainly when they are applied to things such as paying you for work you have done.
Which is not to say such fees need be deal breakers, nor does it change the reality that profitable businesses are aware of their costs and have them fully covered. There are however more thoughtful ways to achieve that, which do not invite the possibility of any negative reaction.
It reflects poorly on a business when it does not make the effort, but not nearly as badly as does insulting people who express inconvenient points of view.Comment

Jace, you have a way of twisting people's words. I didn't call tony ignorant, . I merely stated that his comment illustrates how ignorant much of GFY is. And the fact is, I've seen that comment about 1099 and epass and taxes tossed around endlessly by people not even qualified to advise others on toilet paper choices. Yet it's repeated as gospel.
As for bashing, you sure went to task on poor Ramos. Or was that justified somehow? We all succumb to the thrill of the internet pissing matches. Only difference with me (I am still learning after 10 years in this biz) is don't take anything too seriously.Comment

Can't please all the people all the time and as for insults, it's a matter of perspective. LOL try me, you'd be amazed.
So this affiliate tells me "I can send 20 joins a day but I need to be wired ahead of time, at your expense and I want a higher partner cut"
My response: "No problem! Would you like a blowjob with that?"

He swears he got back to you and from my experience he's very good about that and has no reason to lie. He gets paid for sales, no sales no pay and we pay him a LOT. Our RSS feeds were put together by the The Doc and are very slick if you're account's not terminated for inactivity check it out.
Regardless Jace, this thread has brought some interesting things forward for me, been fun and above all very educational. Glad you posted it.Comment

just out of curiosity, if someone has money in their account but sends no traffic anymore, and their account gets terminated, do they get paid out? and what if the ammount is under 5$ in the account.. do they get a bill instead of a check?icq - 205700725

I'm just a little confused by the new approach I guess. Mayors Money was always one of the nicest and most helpful affiliate programs out there. They'd literally do anything to make their affiliates happy and were some of the nicest and most respected guys on the board. They literally have some of the most cutting edge tours in the business (I made a thread awhile back about their solo girl tours and the cam that is simply brilliant).
Which is why I'm shocked that you'd go the whole "if you disagree with us you must be a low life who has no traffic and can't afford rent". Just doesn't seem like you guys at all. I would think that announcing it, giving your reasons, and then telling people to take it or leave it would be much better than insulting people.Comment

We're the same helpful bunch of guys. If you go back to the first few posts I was already being called an idoit by some "who: guy before we had even replied and Jace was nice enough to only post the part of the email about checks, nothing about free epassporte accounts. When people start out that way, there reasoning with them. They have no interest in reasonable discussion. They just want someone to bash. If you read the whole thread you'll see people who have earned my respect were treated with respect. Assholes were treated as ...I'm just a little confused by the new approach I guess.
