                                  i have no problem with tattoos, they're sexy if the artwork suits the girl - it's art, expression - my problem and it's really not my problem is that a ton of these girls don't seem to understand that tattoos are forever, they're permanent. People express themselves through fashion and hair styles in the same way - the difference being those aren't permanent. imagine having to wear the mullet hair style or the rat tail you had at 14 for the rest of your life.

                                  There are now tons of girls out there who got tattoos young who are now in their 20's and 30's and hate/regret their tattoos. I know a couple. They're waiting for laser removal to get better or something new to come out that will make tattoo removal better/cheaper.

                                      i'm assuming the 64 in your nickname refers to your birth year. it's a generational thing - i'm the same age as you i think and growing up tattoos were considered to be really low class.
                                      one of my friends dads was in the Navy and had a big tattoo on his arm from those days, after the service he got married had kids and became a salesman and then an exec with Pepsi - people looked down at people with tattoos, he never wore a short sleeved shirt even in the summer, didn't want people to see the tattoo.

                                              I'm pretty anti-tattoo also. I don't mind a little one that means something to the girl. But having lots or big ones all over just really turns me off. Not that I would kick a hot girl with tattoos out of bed, but its hard to take them seriously...

                                                                                                                                  Was it because people frowned on permanently marking up your body.

                                                                                                                                  Was it because drunken sailors, bikers and convicts who cared so little about themselves they didn't mind permanently marking up their body were the only ones getting tattoos.

                                                                                                                                  Whatever it was, the viewpoint changed when people who were idolized began to rebel and get tattoos. I think the rock stars got the ball rolling in that direction and now it's mainstream. I'll bet the day will come when not having a tattoo will be cool just because it's different.

                                                                                                                                  It's interesting to see something go through such a change in acceptance even though the tattoo itself hasn't changed.

                                                                                                                                                                  I have alot of tattooos but I aquired them slowly over time. I'm glad I did. I have friends who you can track their evolution of style and taste through the tattoos they have. Not only that, but usually the first few tattoos aren't done by the bests artists either. I don't regret any of my ink, but there are one or two pieces I wish I had gotten done by someone else.

                                                                                                                                                                  It's weird to see 18 year old girls with giant chest peices and full sleeves. Getting tattoos in places that aren't covered by a tshirt is a pretty big commitment. Most artists I know won't put something somewhere visibile like that unless the person has alot of ink elsewhere on their body.

                                                                                                                                                                  I saw a young chick a few years back, maybe only 18 or 19, sh was broken down in a residential neighborhood and was getting one of the men who lived on the street to help her with changing her tire. She was wearing a cap sleeve shirt and had only one tattoo I could see- and it was on her neck. She's got a huge dark peice right on the side of her neck and she can't even change her own tire. WTF!? I wasn't even as upset with her poor decission as I was with whatever nimrod put it on her. Here you have what might be this girl's first tattoo and you slapped it right on her fucking neck. Christ.
