It doesn't take much of a spike to kill something, while not killing everything you have. I'd look into getting a power regulator and quality surge protector BEFORE you plug in your next monitor.

The 25" didn't fail at my house
The 20" works fine on VGA when connected on a guest laptop downstairs, but will not function at all on DVI any more.
Read about some complaints with samsung monitors... seems to be a little higher than other brands.
My wife has a cheap 22" LG that has been going strong on the same APC
