I don't know anything about canon since i'm a nikon user
But best focal length for street photography, portrait, landscape from my experience is 28 - 105.
There is one lens 2.8 (tamron brand) for this specific focal length and it's heavy slow focus and old but a kick ass lens for contrast, color, rezolution
I'm sure you can find @ canon something like 3.5 5.6 or so. IS matters it's good to have it also if you can get buy a full frame lens not DX ( we have DX at nikon not sure how canon has)
2.8 lens are always "the elite" the old story that best is canon is not true tamron also has good lens, tokina ... my experiences with sigma haven't been that good even with 2.8 lens so i never recommend them.Comment

Just an update on my Canon 24-105 L buy.
I love it! The range is perfect for an allround lens and I really appreciate the IS. The weight is good too, it sits nicely in your hand.
Many times I use full zoom to catch peoples faces without them knowing that I'm taking pictures of them. The IS has saved me from getting blurry pics a lot of times (did tests with and without).
The only down side I see with it is f/4.0. When sun is about to go down and I find myself in a dark alley without a tripod. It's hard to get a good picture. But the 50 f/1.8 worked quite nicely.
Next buy will be a wide angle lens. That is one thing I miss.Comment

Oh man you had to show off the big dick lens ehMy primary choice is the 5D with the 24-70 lens. I carry other lenses with me but rarely use them.
Here's a shot of the 20D and some other stuff. Yes, the lenses I use are bulky but then again, so are the cameras and a lot of the other gear I travel with.

Imagine what a pain in the ass it is to pack this son of a bitch around.

Great looking kit you have there man.Comment

since i am not a canon shooter.. well atleast not for photos, i cant tell much about those lenses, but the Tamron mentioned is a nice piece of glass, i use it on my nikon d2x and fuji s2 all the time. It is not as fast on the AF as nikon glass, but thats a given with any 3rd party lens, and it is super sharp."Obscenity is whatever gives the Judge an erection." -- Author UnknownComment

The second video camera with the large fish eye lens, is that your POV camera ? And if so, does it make your dick look bigger ?My primary choice is the 5D with the 24-70 lens. I carry other lenses with me but rarely use them.
