Nancy Pelosi is a bright, courageous and strong woman. She has represented her district, which encompasses most of San Francisco, with honor and distinction for nearly 20 years.
Many people probably don't know that her father was a Congressman, and also longtime Mayor of Baltimore (a post her brother also held), so she has deep roots in politics.
Some may disagree with her positions on various issues, but the fact is she represents the views of the majority of her constituency, and those of a majority of the people who voted nationally to change the dangerous path that the Bush Administration was taking us down.
Change will not come in 72 hours or even in 100 days. It will take years to reverse some of the dangerous and misguided laws and policies enacted by the Bush Adminstration, but I for one, am grateful that change is finally coming...

On Wednesday the New York Daily News had reported that President Bush on Dec. 20 attached a singing statement to postal legislation that grants the government the authority, during emergencies, to bypass a law forbidding mail to be opened without a warrant.
Under law, government agents have been required to get warrants before opening first-class letters. When Bush signed the postal reform act, he added a statement saying that his administration would construe that provision "in a manner consistent to, to the maximum extent permissible, with the need to conduct searches in exigent circumstances."I know that Asspimple is stoopid ... That is great that she has represented the Bay so well. However, to the rest of the country she comes off as, to put it politely, "too much of a democrat"! She is now at the forefront of the Democrat Party and if she acts like she has in the past and is now she will be the reason we have a Republican President in 2008.
Now, lets talk about that peon of an idiot Republican Governator that wants to give FREE health care to all illegal aliens!!! WTF??? Wait I take that back, Arnold is far from being a Republican anymore. Joe Shmoe that works hard and makes 30-40k/yr has to pay his own medical bills but if you illegally enter this country we will roll out the red carpet and give you medical care for free.

No one from either party is rolling out a red carpet for illegal aliens, although the demos are being more humane, just as neither party at this point is more adult biz friendly than the other, although I would expect the demos to be less apt to use the porn issue as a red herring as the GOP.
The real showdown, two years hence, will be about who offers up the best National candidate. I doubt that Nancy Pelosi will run - so while she may influence things, she will mostly not be a deciding factor.

she may not be be a direct deciding factor, but her actions in congress will certainly go a long way to helping support one party or the other.
right now i am not seeing to many canidates on either side with enough mass appeal for the national stage. obama seems like a good canidate, but his lack of executive expierience may hurt him. hilliary is obviously very polarizing. mccain may have alienated the moderate base that formed the core of his broad appeal by sticking so close to whitehouse policy, and in some cases even acting as the party hatchetman. i don't know if giuliani (sp?) has what it takes to be a presidential player. vice presidential certainly, but i don't know beyond that.
only time will tell though. people's memory is short when it comes to politics, so mccain may end up being a strong canidate after all.
