At Melbourne airport it is not unusual to see a good 300 - 400 people standing in line at the Virgin Airlines counter, similar for Qantas. This is for domestic flights.
Leading out to the International gates you can be crammed up behind a hundred or more people at any point in time trying to get through busy periods at the security check points.
So from a terrorist perspective , fuck getting on a plane and having to deal with security, just let one go in a queue, same mass casualties, no risk of exposure beforehand.
These new scanners at airports aren't there to protect the paying public, they are there to give the public a false sense of security. Time and time again innovative methods have led to things being smuggled onto aircraft, ships or even busses.
Things have become ridiculous and the knee jerk reaction to impose even more invasions of privacy and interruption to normal daily life have led to the terrorists winning by default, our way of life has changed, exactly what they hoped to achieve in the first place.
