With Liu Kang, if you were far away and tried to jump forward, it would perfectly time one of his high fireballs to hit you in the air. If you were close to the computer and try to do any kind of jump attack, they'd to a straight-up jump and kick, which for whatever reason would always override whatever the hell you were going to do. So basically you had to beat Liu Kang and some of the others without jumping at all among other things.
