Tubeskin definitely gets the best drama thread in my opinion. but then again i was kind of absent from these parts during the whole pete-kt thing, and all I really know is what happened, missed the entire drama surrounding it.

I was actually browsing GFY when i jumped pages and suddenly things refreshed to the beautiful proudly displayed gfy tube skin. People started piping up within moments, by the time I returned the next day, it became a fucking firestorm.

I give the tube thread the win over DirtyD/Shoehorn, based ont he people who got the most shook up. The tubeskin drama got, you know, actual industry people with some respect in an uproar. People left the forum, boycotted gfy, an entire subforum was spawned. It changed the forum. GFY got paid, and probably never even realized there was any dispute over it in the first place, because nobody there gives a shit what any of us think. TrafficJunky probably did incredibly well with the drama of the week putting all eyes on them. I know of one guy, not naming names, that paid a solid 20% of the pricetag for their skin off testing their traffic. One guy. How many others did the same? I bet they made their money back just fine.

The DirtyD/Shoehorn thread was massive, because as someone said already, it became a lynch mob. It was a minor thing, people have been screwed for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than the $350 that spawned a 45 pages of rage, but it was a thing that just about everyone can jump in on. The majority of the people here are affiliates, not program owners or content producers. And regardless of how much they make, there's nothing worse than putting effort into promoting a program, then having them pull a paycheck on you over some bullshit.

That was some bullshit, and the attitude DirtyD came in with flapping off was enough to set any affiliate in witch burner mode. It was fun because everyone wanted to see D burnt at the stake. Then Shoehorn was quietly paid off and 2 days later no one really remembers what it was all about anyways. The ToS probably hasn't even been updated.

I found the thread and it's outcome interesting because during it's run I honestly believed that whatever the outcome, it would set a precedent as far the the "affiliate calling out a program on the forum" disputes are concerned. I don't know if it has or will, but I think there's a good chance going into 2010 there's going to be nothing but more and more drama. Seems as though the drama comes faster than you can keep up with it all. Shit's faster than a soap opera. I guess we'll see yet...

Edit: 2010, DOOM DOOM DOOM!
