    fucking paypal....HELP

Ok so i sold a site to someone about 6 months ago. The site is www.banra.com - I sold it for $3.500 bucks. I go into my paypal account today and it says -$3500. I guess the dude did a chargeback or something. To be able to resolve it i need a reciept or some proof i sold it. I tried to whois the domain so it would show that he owns it but he put a privacy thing on it. WHY CAN I DO?!?! HELP!

Well, If you happen to have a timemachine - you can go back in time and use a service like escrow.com - If not, sounds like you might be out of luck. Contact paypal, let them know of the situation and see what they suggest.

But honestly, you should have recieved some notification of a dispute. If you didnt respond, you almost certainly no longer have options.

just make sure you do not have that money in your bank account so they can't take it back and close the account, you got your money and your paypal account is screwed for life,

Ive got one that is -5500.00 right now. I feel your pain. Go through the dispute thing, you might be able to pull up the whois history of the domain. See if the privacy was put on later, maybe it will show his name. Maybe contact the registra and see if they can provide you any documentation on it.

I always have to laugh when people do fairly major transactions with things like paypal or epass. They are both services good for SMALL amounts, not thousands of dollars at a shot.

Selling a domain for anything over a few hundred dollars, go through a service like escrow.com or similar, and have the buyer pay the fees (they aren't all that high). This gives you a ton more security.

As a side note, if they guy who bought the domain is in a worthwhile place, you can always sue him.

                          Good luck

Paypal can't take the money out of your bank account without your permission but if they end up closing your account with it in the negative they will send it to a collection agency and attempt to fuck up your credit. When I was selling regularly on ebay they limited my account twice to get more information from me due to the amount of money I was processing, even though I had an ebay account since '99 and over 1000 feedbacks with no negatives. I read an interesting article once about how Paypal limits accounts with money in them so they can profit off the interest while the account holder is complying with their endless requests for documenting paperwork...wish I could find it.

you are out of luck man, you can try talking with the dispute department, but I doubt it will get you anywhere, I would just get a new paypal account and move on...

so who is the asshole that did this? does he post on here? what's his paypal email, icq, etc?

yea, no kidding, anything over $1k is wire only, if buyer wants escrow that's his problem, and he/she pays the fees...

They can take the money sticky as you gave them permission when you added that account. You should be able to change you account number though. Most banks should do this.

If you wont get your money back i would do everything to fuck that guy over.

Hire a hacker and have him delete all sites he owns. Start a site with his name and mention what a scammer he is. Etc. i would make him suffer for way more than the few k he stole from me.

I would imagine you have some kind of emails or ICQ chats where you discussed this deal. If you do send them those. If it was done over the phone tell them so. also if it was transferred through godaddy there should be some sort of transfer history you can get to show them. If you already transferred the money to your bank account I guess the worst thing that could happen is that they close your paypal and send you to a collection agency. I would gather any and all info you have on the domain and its sale and forward all of that to paypals dispute team.

Good luck. I've never had to deal with this kind of thing so I'm not sure what you chances are.

Dont beat him up right away. Collect some info on him. His family and whatever you can find. Give him a visit with 2 of your friends, the biggest you have and tell him you want your money within 2 days and if not talk about his mom or girlfriend or something like that. Works better than beating him up right away

                                                  Here's the thing.

                                                  You have your money.

Paypal did not take anything from you.

If your bal shows as -3500, this means you had 0 in there. Correct?

Basically your paypal acct is fucked up for the time being & you need to correct it.. You're not missing the cash because it looks like you already took it out, had a 0 balance, then paypal gets a chargeback/cancel so now it is -3500

No they cant. They dont have your permission on a chargeback. When you make a purchase and it pulls the money out you are giving them permissions by initiating the charge. Trust me I went through it. My account is closed and they didnt take a dime from me. In fact I quized all the paypal people I talked to extensively to make sure. I never closed or changed my checking and I didnt lose a dime. I left it in collections for now, cause there is a soon to be pending suit.

If it was just me I wouldnt even bother, but the same people fucked over 4 or 5 people besides me, and we are all going to go in on it together.

Ya doesnt work. I had full documentation of emails, and reciepts etc. Add to that the fact they did tons of chargebacks through paypal and it wasnt just me. Paypal just gives in.

I go into my paypal account today and it says -$3500. I guess the dude did a chargeback or something. To be able to resolve it i need a reciept or some proof i sold it. I tried to whois the domain so it would show that he owns it but he put a privacy thing on it. WHY CAN I DO?!?! HELP!
Tell PayPal to FUCK OFF ... I did ... I owe them money apparently ... they can sing in court for it ...

the dude that I dealt with had my work, AND my money. So he got off ... and PayPal made money on the interest for the cash they STOLE from me.

Fuck them. Open a new PayPal under a new bank account and use that one. I did.

The privacy doesn't protect him in any way, for 15$ a month you can track all owner changes of a domain (whois history): http://domain-history.domaintools.co...m&page=results

As far as I know, privacy isn't instant, even if it appears instantly, the domain is registered on the real/name adress first and then privacy is applied. The registrars make it look like it's one step, but it's two.

This is paypals problem how and what did they do that was wrong?

I see it as some asshole bought your stuff via paypal. You made the transaction just fine and recieved your money. Later on the ass hole reversed the charges (odds are via his credit card or bank). Asshole got his money back from paypal. I would not expect paypal to sit around and eat the loss.

Typically one would have transaction logs over any and all sales of any value. If not for such occassions like this, for tax reasons at least. Most people would keep such records for at least a year if not six years.

You should have proof that shows:
                                                                  Original registration.

If Paypal won't reverse the charges or at least clear you of wrong doing and make your account okay you can always sue him. Paypal will come after you for the money. Since you have done nothing wrong take him to court. It will cost you some money to do this, but if it were me I would rather pay a little money to a lawyer to go after him than pay $3500 or more to paypal or a collection agency, nevermind what it will do to your credit.

You will ignore them, they will close your account, and hound you with telephone calls every day, 6 times a day for the next year . . . and counting. But they can't dip into your savings account.
