a really long time ago I remember a story/thread/pics about AaronM or someone getting arrested in Mexico and an elite team of webmasters went in navy seals style to rescue him.

It was too many years back but someone posted a iFrame in their post which caused some panic on the board, it was made to look like this person had access to the root of our computers, this was 6 yrs or more back

That's exactly how I think it went down. His son was diagnosed with a condition, he panicked and went to GFY immediately before awaiting more medical evaluations or going to his family and friends for help. He assumed he was going to need treatment in the USA and it would cost him a fortune. Turned out he didn't need to and his Canadian insurance covered most of the cost and his son's condition turned out to be not as serious as initially thought. Last I remember his son was doing well.

I would venture to say he's posted here under another nick. At the time this happened he had been posting here constantly every day. Then the big rally to raise money started and upon completion he stopped posting almost instantly, that's what gave people a very uneasy feeling.

That sounds like the work of Smokey, he's done a few tricks on the forum that were hilarious. He used to find several vulnerabilities in the forum software and would exploit them when gfy didnt listen to him about fixing them.

I was never interviewed but to best of my knowledge it was bullshit andhe did collect over 20k. He argued a but about it and then dissapeared.

I'm fortunate enough not to have been taken by any fakers that I'm aware of and I;ve donated my fair share of money over the years to people in need- some of which posted and are no longer with us anymore.

There have been so many scammers out lately- GFY and Elsewhere- it's really left me jaded.

I was just looking back at some of his threads the other day. I didn't know him well enough to know whether or not he was a piece of shit... I actually respected the level of success it appeared he achieved.

The fact is, by your own account, you didn't pay out any gold, not $20,300 worth, not $1 worth.

You were repeatedly asked to show proof that the gold even existed, and you did not. And when the contest ended, many people suggested it would be a good gesture for you to at least give some sort of prize to the top seller, and you wouldn't even do that.

Many people would consider a contest which is hyped for months, with big promises of large prizes, and then pays nothing in prizes at the end, to be a hoax.

This thread is about hoaxes, and not about you personally. If I wanted to make it personal, it would certainly make you look a helluva lot worse, given the number of people that know you whom you have pissed off for one reason or another.

Anyway, since you asked, the shows I usually attend are well-documented since pictures from them are posted here and on my websites.
