Coming to America is the same way, with the exception of Louie Anderson even the white people are played by black people.

Eddie Murphy has a huge chip on his shoulder about someone else getting credit for having the first blockbuster w/ an all black starring cast. I can't remember who it was he was hating on, I want to say Tyler Perry but I think the interview was from the 90's. Anyway, he was fucking pissed and rightly so. Coming to America is the shit.

I may not have known there was an earlier British sitcom that Sanford and Son was based on but it does further validate the point that I was making.

My best friend is black so he decided to come over half way through and i rewound it just to the "spooks" part where hes telling those black dudes off, saving the girl.

              Thats just how I roll...
yeah, it was a bit uncomfortable for me to watch it in the theater. you could see everyone casually glancing around to see who's snickering or not.

It's not racially unfair when blacks do it, don't worry.

That's usually how it's done...not complete absence of white people, but the white people that are in it are lame idiots, bad guys, etc.

FWIW people probably don't see the latter as racist because it was also 2 guys dressed up as 2 women, so a somewhat ridiculous silly premise/movie. There's probably better examples out there of the double-standard than this one.

I think the black and white picture was way back in the 60's.....watched Tropic Thunder....Robert Downey Jr is seen playing a black man.....no one made a big deal out of it and it was a good laugh...
