friend of mine just bought a new asus laptop in a german store called "expert"

15,4 screen

2048 ram

160 gig harddrive

2 x 1,6 ghz

512 mb graphics card

for 999 euros....

an awesome machine

Yes. You can also have both running at the same time (Vista on screen #1 and Mac OS X on screen #2 if you have dual screens).

I guess that Ebay can scare people due to the amount of money being dished out, but sometimes the savings are VERY tempting. The seller I bought from had 1100 (99.7%) feedback, so I trusted him.

I want fast CPU, at least 1GB ram (2GB would be better), 15.1 screen is fine,
100GB'ish harddrive, 512gfx card is fine..

Mines a year old and I think my model now would be an Asus z70va, or something, which hase a different screen that some like and some don't. Asus also has a 17" unit out which looks pretty tasty, though pricey. I'm not a Mac fan, and was hesitant about a "generic", but after buying one I'm sold on customizing them via online sellers.
