BUT....
Even better than the movie, itself, is the documentary film 'bonus feature' on the dvd. I HIGHLY recommend renting the dvd, just to see the doc. It is incredible.
They take cameras deeeeeep in the favelas, and into homes, incredible interviews with gangsters, police officers, etc.

Yes - just amazing. As if the movie didn't portray the living conditions bad enough, seeing the actual ones was just depressing as hell.Agreed, it's a fantastic movie.

I didn't know that the same guy directed Constant Gardner until right after I watched it and saw it in the credits. I didn't want to see Constant Gardner because I thought it was going to be the Merchant Ivory type stuff that Ralf Fines has been doing too much of lately. Yet, I ended up really getting into it only to find out he directed it.Comment
