Spacedog, I like you and your posts. I know you get a lot of shit from people, but you're one of the few guys here who actually asks questions and opens business related threads. I know that people will hate on anything you do, but some people are making very good posts that you should really think about. I'll give you my 2 cents.
Visa is essential to your program. We can argue whether it's 59%, 80%, or even 5%, it doesn't matter. Any percent of surfers that can't pay to join your site will hurt your conversion ratio. Even 1% increase in conversion rates can mean one sale for every 100 clicks you send a sponsor. It is why the best sponsors have cascaded billing, uber-fast speeds, and offer every payment option known to man. Every bit of traffic you receive is valuable, and you should be doing everything in your power to maximize it to the fullest for your affiliates.
Now the biggest factor is that your affiliates conversion ratios will suck. Sure you'll get some sales, make enough to get Visa, but you'll also kill the relationships of your first batch of affiliates. Is that $750 worth losing potentially long term affiliates and building a negative reputation as a program that doesn't convert? Regardless of what you say, not having Visa as a billing option on your site will signifigantly hurt your ratios. It will most likely double them.
So what I'm saying is that you have only one chance to make a first impression. Think of your time as an affiliate and how you'd react to signing up for a program that didn't convert. I give a sponsor a week or so, if I see nothing I like, they are never used again. So beg, borrow, or just wait till you have the money to get Visa. Heck, take a cash advance on your CC, get a title loan on your car, whatever you have to do. But don't fuck over your first set of affiliates to make a few bucks. If you're in this for the long haul, it's not worth hurting your reputation like this amongst new and potential affiliates.Comment

ya, but the problem is what if you have 5 webmasters that each send you 10 000 uniques (50k total) and only 1 or 2 people out of each 10K has something other than a visa? 50% or 80% of 0 is still 0. In order for anyone to get at least 15 joins they will have to send 100K+ uniques. That's where the problem is. No one here is saying that your sites suck.
What you need to do, and it was mentioned in this thread, is send traffic of your own to your site(s), get a small member base and use the money to get visa approval. After that you launch with a deal like this (80%) and I will guarantee that you would have many new affiliates join. Why? Because now they feel that they are not throwing their traffic away. Why would someone send you 1000's of hits and make almost nothing when they are making 100's of dollars or much more with the same traffic to another sponsor? That would not be financially wise.
Also, without visa whatever affiliate you manage to get will constantly see extremely shitty ratios (1:2000+) and drop you never to return. So, in the end, YOU lose. You don't want that, do you? You put your money into this and you want to make more money from it, right? Do the right thing and get visa before launching even for beta testing. trust me man. Let me point out that just because a certain percentage of transactions, according to some reports, are visa, that does not necessarily mean that you lose that % of your sales right off the bat…
If you don’t have a visa card, you may still have/use a mastercard/jcb/discover card, etc….+ most people pay their credit card bills through their bank account, so you may be also open to billing them using an online check

yeh personally i think 12clicks is a bit of a dick, but that doesnt make me want to make me start numerous threads and replies about his program and about how are you stats are with 12xclickscash when he obviously doesnt promote them and has no intention of promoting them. and also nominating someone tool of the year who clearly has had the balls to build his own program and really work hard at it.
I understand frank was cristisizing and in a way trying to help them both, but he just kept going on and on about it. kinda sad if you have to resort to things like that IMO

I don't think spacedog is an asshole at all, just someone who is very keen, a little naive still, and sometimes gets a little out of his league. I really hope his prog works in the long run as I am sure he's put a lot of work into it; he just needs to learn not to ejaculate prematurely.

I think their reputations have done more to hurt their chances at success than anything Franck has written. Franck is not the first person to call 12clicks a scammer nor is he the first to make fun of spacedog.
I don't know either guys personally, don't know how well their programs are doing, don't know how smart they are either, but I do know that they have reputations on the board (whether it is fair or not) that is not just Franck's doing.Comment
