Does anyone recall the Toronto Dominion Green Machine commercials from back in the .... late 70's or early 80's. I still have the tune in my head ... <singing> Toronto Dominion .. Beep Beep.
The bit of research that I have done on adult entertainment business banking in Canada seems to have flagged CIBC as an industry favourite. Does anyone here use CIBC for business banking?
I tried RBC about two years ago -- Opened an account with no problem, and then went in a few days later to make a deposit and the teller looked confused and asked if I would have a seat while she got the manager who then proceeded to tell me that my account had been closed by their security department because of "money laundering concerns". I was rather annoyed and demanded an explanation of just what "money laundering concerns" was she referring to. She was extremely evasive and uncomfortable, and then finally said quietly, "We don't deal with your type of business." Needless to say, I demanded that she tell me, out loud, just what "type" of business she was referring to, but she just walked away.
Whether this was a one off, and/or a mistake on the part of the bank, I have no idea. Others with the same "type" of business as mine seem to have no problem with RBC. I, on the other hand, will never patronize them again for business or personal banking.
