How much on the boards is real opinion or just a public face

I see a lot of people saying something on the boards that seem quite contrary to their actual opinions/practices.

And I can see why, you have to keep a public appearance separate from what you might truly be thinking.

How much of what you see on here do you believe and how much do you believe that people are just saying what the majority wants to hear?

I'd never take a position on an issue publicly that I don't truly believe (mind you sometimes I'll use sarcasm).

Board persona is one thing, staying true to yourself and your ideals is another.

Hmm, pretty much all real opinion. At least I can't recall saying anything I honestly thought was bullshit. There are times when it's best to just keep your mouth shut though. I certainly won't spout off something negative just to get attention if that's what you mean. If I do say something negative, I'll try to offer something constructive instead of just launch an attack.

I am the same on here as I would be in real life.

It is not just GFY, it's in general.

I am much too busy to keep board persona's, drama, bullshit, lies, and facades all in line. So if I am always the same, then whether you ask me something now, tomorrow, next week, or next year... the answer will always be the same most of the time.

You never end up having to say or not say something because of the politics involved behind the scenes?

In some cases, I simply won't reply. So yeah, I'll certainly avoid saying something that may cause a ripple, but I also wouldn't jump in and say something because that's what I'm TOLD I should say or endorse something I don't believe in.

Silence can speak volumes and sometimes it's very interesting to see who's ABSENT from certain conversations, MUCH more so than who's actually involved in the forefront.

I have always just been me on boards and on the internet in general. If for no other reason than I can't be bothered to have to try to remember what I said in different places at different times. If I am always me it is always the same answers.

oh i know quite a few of those. i laugh when i read their posts. i won't name any names, but i get a good chuckle out of some peoples posts.

i have carte blanche to stir any pot i wish.
