Why aren't women funny? I don't think I'm being sexist ...

Be your gender what it may, you will certainly have heard the following from a female friend who is enumerating the charms of a new (male) squeeze: "He's really quite cute, and he's kind to my friends, and he knows all kinds of stuff, and he's so funny ? " (If you yourself are a guy, and you know the man in question, you will often have said to yourself, "Funny? He wouldn't know a joke if it came served on a bed of lettuce with sauce béarnaise.") However, there is something that you absolutely never hear from a male friend who is hymning his latest (female) love interest: "She's a real honey, has a life of her own ? [interlude for attributes that are none of your business] ? and, man, does she ever make 'em laugh."

Now, why is this? Why is it the case?, I mean. Why are women, who have the whole male world at their mercy, not funny? Please do not pretend not to know what I am talking about.

I dunno man, maybe you aren't meeting the right chicks. I can think of 4 or 5 chicks right off the bat I know that are totally hilarious. Only of them is hot, so maybe they're making up for something?

Kinda funny, my girlfriend said the same thing yesterday when we were watching Bill Hicks and Eddie Izzard shows.

I dont mean to offend anyone, but i have -never- seen a funny female stand-up comedian, and i have seen quite a few female comedians.

I don't think I'm particularly funny, but I get laughs occasionally. I go see stand up shows all the time, and hardly ever do they have a woman, and when they do, she's usually the opener, so of course she's not as funny as the headliner... But some of the top funniest I have seen have been women.

I get burned out on stand up every now and then though, because so much of it is the same boring sexist (against women AND men) bullshit over and over, and I don't really get into that stuff.

I think women would be a lot more funny if you didn't talk so much. Men only listen to important shit like how many touchdowns Peyton Manning threw last night. Not about what kind of x-mas decorations you plan on putting up. So once we hear something were not interested in even if you do crack a joke we'll miss it because we have already blocked your voice out after the first sentence. Don't be fooled by the questions we ask, thats just so you don't get mad that we haven't heard a word you said for the last 10 minutes. haha

I WAS going to say that my wife is quite hilarious BUT, after 18 years, she's kind of adopted my sense of humour. Her timing however leaves something to be desired.

As for standup comedians, I haven't yet seen a funny woman who can hold the stage for an hour.

However, some of the funniest comedic bits ARE about women, albeit said by men...

I think anyone can be funny depending on the mood your in.....The New Yorker could be hilarious one minute, dick & fart jokes the next! The same reason why your brain will tell you to laugh at stupid jokes cuz' you wanna get laid...Maybe chicks aren't funny because guys don't want them to be. Maybe guys aren't funny at all, but all our chicks just laugh to make us feel better...Who fuckin knows...I definitely know girls that are hilarious, though.
