at least $3.50!
seriously though, $20 per player per month (box sale, migration sale, premium phone support, subscription, gold.. (rumour)),
7 million players = $140000000 per month less bandwidth, server fees, support staff. they have many many people working for them.. i would just be guessing to say how many tho. bandwidth will not be that huge, each player is only like 4kbps on average, servers will be extremely expensive though. they have over 1000 realms each of which will have instance/bg servers in clusters.. i would not be surprised to hear they have over 10,000 physical servers, probably more.
I always laugh at the addiction that people talk about. This is how people choose to enjoy their free time. Some people are health nuts and spend hours in the gym and then hours reading workout or health magazines and books. Worse is the guy who comes home from work and spend 6-8 hours planted in front of the TV. Many people who are in the higher end game situation are being very social spending their time playing the game with in game friends and talking on Vent or TeamSpeak. INcluded with that is a huge mental stimulation from challenging PVP or Raids. Just cause you enjoy something doesn't mean you are addicted.
Sounds like we found another one.
Actually, I have a friend that is super gamer/geek . . TeamSpeak and all. I have met some of his fellow gamers at parties and they have been doing this together for MANY years, so yeah, guess they can be sociable too.
I noticed a huge decrease in sales once I started playing that game. I just cancelled my account last week.
Thankfully I own a Mac, cuz if I ever got my hands on Battlefield 2, my fucking life would be over. I love it on PS2, but damn it looks so much better on the PC... oh well.

I am a gamer through and through. Have been since the old Pong and Colecovision days. Then to the Commadore 64 and then on to the PC and too many consoles to count. At the same time I still enjoy the weekly Hockey and Soccer game. Just a matter of balance

I am impressed with your flowery oratary. Talk dirty to me...
the server has been awful for a week, with disconnects all the time. our raid was very demotivated so i made a joke pretending I was a game master saying that we would get bad loot from the next boss.. everyone laughed and we had a good time despite the disconnections. 90 minutes later I get a message saying:
"Hello Alkaline. I am sorry to tell you that due to your inappropriate behaviour earlier this evening we have decided to place a suspension on your account. This is in the best interests of the World of Warcraft community, and we urge you to read through our TOS at htttp://asds/dasd. I will now disconnect you."
It was only a suspension, but, furious, i cancelled my account and sent them an email furious, saying how with all the server problems they destroy our raid even further by removing a key player for making a simple private joke to lighten the mood of the raid. I told them to refund my account or I will chargeback.
So depressed now.. 40 friends that I talked to nearly every day.. gone
I am meeting one of them in BKK, I have told one person about my letter to them but do not have the guts to tell my guild that I may be gone forever
fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
oh well guess i can work more and make more money now
I played this game for about a year. I wouldn't say I was addicted, but I did waste a ton of time on it. I would find myself intending to log on for an hour or two a night during the week and I would end up playing for 4-5 hours a night. Then I changed things and decided to only play on the weekends but I would spend all day playing. It is a time consuming game. If you are going to do a big raid it can take 3-5 hours to complete it. Eventually I just gave it up and sold my character.
I agree with the person that says it's not worse than people who come home and sit in front of the TV for 5 hours a night or something like that, but for me is just got to be unacceptable. I took all the time I was wasting on the game and refocused it on business and things are really looking up for me
I have been Uo player for years and now i am playing wow, i hope wow adds houses and ships soon.
No game can ever beat UO back in the days.
If someone just made a new version of UO, they would get mad rich.
All the new MMORPG are the same, but UO has its own nisch...
I quit Galaxies when they switched the GUI around. It turned to crap.
They really messed up that game. It had potential, but it was doomed at release. WHen i played it, the bounty hunter class and the jedi were bugged to the point where you couldnt even progress past a certain stage. The jedi class wasnt even finished. It was crazy
btw why do these kinda games always have to be this childish unrealistic style? make one with real people, like a gangster online game or something, id play that... not this crap
