Here is my quesiton of the day for Slick: Yesterday you and your lawyer were apparently talking to Directnic's legal people. Today they have no legal department?
Call +1 (504) 679-5170 and ask to talk to Sigmund Solarus (I can't spell it, damn it!). He is the top guy, and also (by chance) a lawyer.
Then again, I am sure your lawyer has already been in contact with them numerous times in the last 24 hours, right?Comment

Taking into consideration him saying they didnt have a legal department, I doubt Slick has a lawyer. Here is my quesiton of the day for Slick: Yesterday you and your lawyer were apparently talking to Directnic's legal people. Today they have no legal department?

You should have TALKED to someone at DirectNic before posting about it and escalating imho.

The content IS legal. I guess that nobody ever commented on the content before, so I never thought anything about it. This is the first time it was ever pointed out to me, so I guess that now that I know what others think, perhaps I can change the way the sites operate.Comment

Where did DN make allegations. Slick brought thisto the board, not directnic. Fellow gfyers looked through the sites and told him that it is probably a problem with cp. It was not until folks here asked directnic to say something that Mie posted the dn policy with no real specifics as to Slick.
So, any allegations going on here actually originated here on the boards, not from directnic.
If this had been handled professionally and properly by Slick then noone would even know what was happening besides him and directnic and whoever asked directnic to take a look.

its very believable that you really never thought about the niche that you were catering to with a rather large network of TGP's... each with tons of trades to even more dubious content... and surely you can defend the fact that you posted on your own 2257 statement that you didn't have even so much as a link to a custodian of records (which isn't acceptable anyway)
The judge will believe you. Thats the best explanation ever.Comment

One obscenity prosecution coming your way in the near future I hope. That is, if you're actually an adult webmaster and not an evangelical christian come to save our souls. I'd hate to think you're just a garden variety hypocrite.Comment

I found this number in 2 clicks. Look at bottom right, at "Contact Us" it gives a phone number. You talk to 1st level support, but always have the option to ask to speak to their manager, and if that doesn't work, the next guy.
You said your sites are your only means of making money, I would move heaven and earth myself if this was the case.

So what's the problem? If you just gave them an ID with a clearly visible picture and birthdate (>they are not asking to see the models name, adress or social security number so don't give me the privacy bs answer) instead of starting drama your domains were still active. Since you are so sure that all that content is legal I assume you have the documents to prove it (and if you don't have the docs you are not 100% sure).Originally posted by SlickOriginally Posted by Slick View Post

you aren't very observant....
you 2 have met, but I won't tell you when and where, it would have been too easy.
Bernie,
c'mon, you care about this slick as much as I care about hairs on my ass. You are worrying about YOU, and there is nothing wrong with it, and what consequences this slick affair will have on you.

I would have thought that blowing me was against your born-again morality, since you're all in favor of anyone running a teen site having their life ruined and thrown in prison, where they can be brutalized beyond recognition. Pretty comical huh? Funny.
I bet you cry like a bitch when it's your turn.Comment

Hell yes I am, and I never denied it. I don't want my registrar up in my business. I satisfy my host, I satisfy my lawyers, and that's all I want to deal with. I don't need registrars suddenly thinking they run my business.
Do you know that now that DN has assumed responsibility for policing the domains they service they have put themselves in a position where they can be sued anytime someone finds something illegal on any domain they service?Comment

Slick, isn't it possible to get a hold of Mike's contact details thruw someone at GFY and just try to call him directly.
I think if you deal with it directly in a friendly mather things might get resolved faster then you think. I would spend a few hours doing that before going thruw the legal departement.
Just
Anyway, i hope things get resolved fast for you.Comment

Slick my man
WHY ARE YOU HERE WASTING TIME???
If you lawyer is still communicating by email - he's an idiot.
Lift the phone and get contact with whoever and get thru to whoever is the CEO of that idiot registrar or their company secretary (who should be the legal representative of that company). Ask them (a) fax number and (b) phone number (c) and for a faxed copy of the full nature of the complaint and on the registrars letterhead and complete with address and contact information of the writer. Then get your lawyer to address the problem (tho he should have done that already)
This is sounding like more lala land every day

i am all in favor of people pushing the boundaries in the most agressive way possible... BUT only when they are willing to accept responsibility for it. he isn't my "fellow webmaster" - we aren't "in it to the end". its not like we are all young kids landing on the beaches of France to fight Hitler or something. its not like anyone here is going to fly to seattle to stop me from slitting my wrists or something. most of the pricks here would send the razor blades in a package of 12, keep 5 and still sell them for double the price and then keep fucking rebilling my card for it, 12 months after i'm dead.I would have thought that blowing me was against your born-again morality, since you're all in favor of anyone running a teen site having their life ruined and thrown in prison, where they can be brutalized beyond recognition. Pretty comical huh? Funny.

"teen site" and "models probably of legal age where everything possible is done to make them look younger" is hardly the same thing. and "gee, i never really thought about how young they looked" is a pretty stupid defense... and being caught trading with sites dealing in CP doesn't help. nor does it help that every site he is trading with is of the same nature... nor does the fact that he isn't compliant with 2257 regs by any stretch of the imagination and even made a statement to that effect on his 2257 statement page help.
personally, i am willing to chalk this one up to Darwinism and move on.Comment

Are you really honestly trying to say that you didn't have a problem with some of those thumbs? And to think, I was gonna re-evaluate how I run things because of this, I figured I'd think long and hard about it and tone things down now that I realize that there are people that do have problems with some of those thumbs. I guess when you're running your sites and nobody is telling you something doesn't seem right, you don't think anything is wrong. Once it's brought out in the open and piles of people are having problems with some of the thumbs like now, it kinda hits ya.
I just went and looked... majorpervert, slicknetworks, and all of the sites listed on slicknetworks are loading fine for me. This is NOT a cache, it's the first time I've visited them. And what I saw made me damn sure that DirectNic was well within the boundaries of both the law and what's "right" and "wrong" to call you out on this.
Also, domaintools does not have your domains listed as a registrar-lock, they have it as clientDeleteProhibited as of the time of me writing this post.
A traceroute from domaintools also gets through just fine, as does a ping.Comment

SERIOUSLY... just a question here. How in the hell do you know with 100% certainty all of the girls are over 18 since you do NOT HAVE the age docs in your hands. YOU are taking those companies' word for it that you got the images from. How many companies you deal with?
Are you willing to bet your life that those companies did not make a mistake, maybe from the person they bought content from, or someone sold them bad shit, etc... a million things could have happened, intentional or unintentional.
Are you willing to bet your life that ALL of your content is 100% 18+?
You answered that question when you put the content on your site.
On a side note, I know some people said "would you rather directnic look into it or the feds". Personally, I would rather directnic look into instead of the feds busting down my door, ransacking my house, office, however I do not think it is directnic's place to do it. Even though I would rather them check first, it should have gone to the feds. This is just my opinion obviously since this issue is covered in their terms and conditions. From what I read here they state that they have the authority to do this so I don't think anyone should be toooo surprised. Unless if you didn't read the terms and conditions.ICQ: 86364801 Email: will [at] innovativeassets [dot] com

his attorney apparently really sucks.
ALL IMAGES ARE TAKEN/PRODUCED FROM THE SPONSORS' CONTENT THAT ARE FULLY COMPLIANT WITH THE 18 U.S.C § 2257 LAW. ALL IMAGES ARE TAKEN FROM THE GALLERIES/SITES THEY LINK TO. IF ANYONE QUESTIONS THE LEGALITY OF THE IMAGES DISPLAYED, THEY CAN FIND ALL RECORDS AT THE FOLLOWING LIST OF 18 U.S.C § 2257 STATEMENTS. THIS LIST IS NOT COMPLETE YET, BUT WILL BE UPDATED SHORTLY.
