i'm not saying anything one way or the other. but to answer your question... they didn't ask to see everything. they wanted a pic/date of birth... they could have clarified that. however, i am fairly certain that they put some thought into the request before they made it being that they have in house legal staff and were threatening to interrupt someones business.
also... i would speculate that asking for information doesn't violate any privacy laws. providing information in a way that violates privacy laws would. holding someone hostage while requiring them to provide information that is not lawful for them to provide, i doubt means that DirectNIC is violating any federal or state privacy laws. privacy laws are centered around information and how it must be stored and when and how it can be shared in various circumstances and in various situations (medical records, financial records etc etc)Comment

Damn man I feel for you. I had already made up my mind to move my domains away from them because of the way they are handling this. This just confirms it.. What a bunch of ass hats.
On a side note, I know all your thumbs are sponsor hosted FHG's however even myself being in the teen niche I kinda thought some of your thumbs were a bit pushing it. Not just the teen stuff but even some of the others.
However that's just my personal opinion and I do think DirectNic is way out of line here. I hope you sue the shit out of them because I know your network brings in some good money. a "pic" and "date of birth" is not the same as all other data. my question was simply about the law and what the law defines as personally ideantifying information. not whether or not you intelligent enough to understand that the ID can have all other data blacked out before its shown to someone.Comment

My bank asked me for a picture ID when I wrote a check for cash yesterday. The stores ask for one when I use my credit card or write a check. They aren't representatives of the DOJ either
DN is loaded with lawyers. I can't imagine they turned Slick off without a reason, but if they did, he has EVERY right to sue them. He already has an attorney. I suspect, like when he first approached this situation by making a post here instead of contacting DirectNic or his attorney, that he again posted here before knowing the story of what's going on.
But AGAIN, for those of you who feel someone's "seeding" me, lol, if DN screwed up, they deserve to be sued.
Not that it matters, but, there's a large difference between voluntarily showing someone your own ID, and showing someone some else's ID without their permission or knowledge.Comment

The thing is that a few of the sponsors stepped up and offered me the documents of the model's IDs, as long as I kept them confidential. That's really great of them, but I guess it won't help me now.Comment

With as many lawyers as directnic has - they wouldn't of done this for no reason at all, trust me. They have been serving the adult industry for many many years.
I know you feel picked on, hurt, etc, etc but no one knows who talked to directnic or who they talked to, i.e. feds, etc.
I would seek counsel ASAP and shut up asap....
loosing some domains / profits is bad enough but if there was bs images or whatever - loosing liberty is something to ponder.

The last company I worked for focused entirely on the teen market, the younger looking the better (While legal). It made me very uneasy dealing with that content. I'm very, very glad to be out of it.
Sure, it makes money, of course it does, it appeals to that huge market that fantasize about being with just barely post-pubescent teens, but that doesn't make it morally right.
