Blue Jays basically have an entire canadian market to themselves, most people in Canada cheer for the Blue Jays just based on being the sole Canadian team.
Just like anything you have to spend money to make money, I like the GM of the Blue Jays he isnt afraid to spend $, and especially when you are in a division with Yankees and Red Sox you need to spend $ to stay competative.Comment

I would think they can draw pretty well once they continue to contend. in the 90s when they were good they packed the place. Toronto can support them for sure. That said the salaries are getting crazy again after a few years of sanity it right back to crazy spending. But they obviously have the $$ to throw away.

Good points made. I used to love baseball. Haven't paid attention in awhile, but whenever I flipped a game on last year the Dome was pretty empty. I figured I wasn't the only one. I wish Leaf fans would stop showing up to Games so we can get some real players over here.Comment

True about the Canadian market, but what GM doesn't like to spend money? If they have it, they'll spend it. The good ones spend it in the right place. Riccardi is definitely one of the best at recognizing raw, undeveloped talent. But Jays fans should be thankful the owners opened their wallets, or Riccardi wouldn't have any money to spend.Comment

I agree they paid too much for him, but he's hardly washed up.
The BIG thing about the contract I don't like is the no-trade clause. They'd have been better off locking him up long term and then trading him for a quality starter.
