GREAT movie .....visually stunning and it's pretty damn graphic with the violence. If you are into these kinds of films you'll love it ! along the lines of Gladiator and Braveheart with the love theme behind it.

Though the Subtitles may throw most people off ....

takes balls to make this kind of film ....Subtitles , no big stars , Foriegn cast

Plus if you have been to Mexico and have seen some of the Mayan ruins at places like Chichen Itza , Tulum and Xel-Ha then you will love this movie even more !

it's a good movie. the scene where the mayans start ripping peoples hearts out was pretty savage. it's a must see on a big screen.

I saw the movie very good one.
To be honest i was expecting at something else from the title.
The other movie of him *The Passion of the Christ* is a better movie.
Just my opinion.

i liked it while i was watching it, then after i felt cheated, and now when i reflect on it it was a good movie

so, mixed feelings i suppose, but it was pretty good for the most part.

I have no love for Mr. Gibson (and no, I'm not Jewish) but Apocalypto is an excellent film.

I watch a movie every Tuesday if I'm in town so I see a lot of films. Hey, I live in LA. There are tons of great films available and I have to say Apocalypto is in the top five of the best films I've seen in the past year. The Mayan aspect is nearly inconsequential. This tribe/setting could've been any number of places but I suppose Mel needed a foreign language to use and some blood letting. Either way, the story is great and the Mayan language adds significantly to the films realism. I found it very interesting how the film depicts the sense of humor among the tribe.

Yes, there are parts of the film that are a bit of a stretch (to say the least) but over all a great action film with a good story, beautiful to look at and captivating.

To those who are opposed to reading subtitles, you are really missing out. SO many great films out there in other languages. Step outside your comfort zone and open yourself up to new ideas. Hollywood may have the market cornered on blockbuster action adventure CGI laden films, but great stories come from around the globe.

nah, this one is MUCH better than the "Passion of the Christ", for some reason both films felt somehow unfinished for me

amd as for the "way too graphic" comments - watch any war movie and you'll see much worse things
