BonePro - I have read your posts over the last year or two and seen your occasional highs but more often I see you talking about your losses, and serious numbers too ..

Anyone who knows me from the old times knows I am not only an idiot for blowing my money in many other ways but I would say I blew literally 75% of my money I made over the years on gambling in some way or another.

I have done everything from rationalizing to playing only lower stakes to saying I can be a winning player (If I would just quit gambling and actually play like I should be) but over and over I lose ..

Take it from someone who was in your shoes once and coule blow $30K and just bitch about it and forget about it within a day or two. It will get worse and completely out of control. You will end up losing interest in other things, gambling is just as bad as any hard core drug. You live for your next win, unfortunately as good as that feeling is when you do win big it is rare and you are probably only winning 20-25% of the time you play at best.

Hope I don't come across as an asshole but if someone had knocked some sense into me years ago, I would still have a paid off house, paid off cars in the drive, and money in the bank.

You may be able to afford it now, but the amounts you gamble will only increase and unless your income inreases proportionally you will be worse off financially more and more as time goes on. A typical gambling addict will lose their interest in work as well which leads to dwindling incomes and increased losses at the tables - a double no no ...

But just when I think Im done, they pull me back in..

And the wins, the HUGE FUCKING WINS just keep me fueled.. Its all I do when im on a roll. IS think and sleep sports.. When I lose all I do is think and sleep sports. It consumes me so much my whole life is think and sleep sports. Unreal....

There are times when Im winning and im forced to take a month off.. Just so I can clear my mind.. Winning not just losing is very very, whats the word, toll taking on one's self.

Honestly, it is still a work in progress. I do have $11,000 in maxed out credit card debt due to gambling now - and to me now, that is the equivalent of having $1,000,000.00 in credit card debt back then.

I haven't gambled at all in about 3 weeks. My last time I played I played poker VERY WELL for 3 weeks straight and built up $6,000.00 from a $300 deposit. I had dreams of paying off my credit cards again dancing in my head....

Thing is instead of cashing out $5,000 and slowly rebuilding my bankroll again (starting with the $1,000 I would of had left, which would have been MORE than enough) I had this ingenious idea!!

I could play $150/$300 limit and with one lucky session I could get the $10K I needed to get completely out of debt !! Needlesss to sya two bad beats and I lost $4,000.00 - Naturally I had to keep playing to get back to even then, which led to me busting out, yet again ... Story of my life ....

It took 30 minutes to destroy weeks of solid poker - Playing 80 + hours per week with a fierce desire not to stray off path this time.... I can play poker well, seriously .. But I can't play it because of this exact reason. At some point of time I always decide to 'gamble' instead of 'play poker' no matter what ... and it has led to me playing in games over me head where I wasn't properly bankrolled and I lose.

I'm not getting any new credit cards, the Misses has the maxed out ones ... and I will be paying $300 a month on them for god knows how long. Hopefully it is a reminder to me to stay off the tables no matter how 'juicy' the game I see etc is.

I had an idea I was looking for investments in a while ago pertaining to problem gamblers like you and I. The idea was to build a software program that you install on your computer and it completely locks your ability to access any gambling related sites.

Once installled, you could not remove it off your computer, period... The market is out there for the product, I know I would buy it - and I know it would still save me money most likely to this day if suck a product existed.

The beauty is I think some sites that are truly 'Anti Gambling Addicts" liek Poker Stars would gladly link to such a program for free. It is very unlikely many actual casinos would link to such a site but poker related sites who are trying to build their reputation as being skill based would likely link to such a thinkg (gratis) ... The PR for such a product alone would make it proiftable within a week - I had quotes for the deisgn of it and everything, had programmers in place, ironically 50% of the money I had set aside to get it started I lost gambling ...

Like I said, if you ever need any one who can seriously relate drop me a line. I have been where you are to a T. I am a noone now but I used to bet $5-$10,000 a hand at the BJ tables and played only the highest limit poker games avalable for years.. The "HEAT" as it is a refered to.. Where you slowly work up smart and careful to a large amount by playing smart and with dicpline.. Only to get infected by what casinos call the "HEAT" to lose weeks of work in a matter of hours or wreckless play..

I recently started sportsbetting again but keep it to just golf and boxing, two sports I know I can beat with a high percentage. There was a time when I was the most disciplined gambler on the planet. I would never bet more than 5% of my bankroll on a single play and never more than 20% in a single day. I had no problem passing when there was nothing on the board worth playing and didn't feel like I had to have action every second of every day. I did my homework, rarely finished below 60% in a season on the sports I played, and made some really good money.

The problem was that money was never enough. As my bankroll increased my play size increased to where I was playing $5,000 to $10,000 a game. For some reason when I reached those numbers greed started to blind me. In the past if I had a losing day it was no big deal...I took for what it was and started over the next day. But one NFL season I started to totally fall apart.

It was a couple of years ago and I was playing Carolina +3 over Atlanta on a Sunday night game, $22,000 to win $20,000. I look at those numbers now and want to puke. The game went into overtime so I figured I was in good shape to at least push, since most overtime games in the NFL are decided by a field goal. Carolina won the toss, and on the first play Jake Delhomme threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown. I just lost $22,000 on one game.

From there I just completely fell apart. If I had a bad day in college football I would double up on the Hawaii game, which is usually the last game of the night. If I had a bad day in the NFL I would kill the Sunday night game, or even worse fall into the "I'm in a hole and Monday Night Football will bail me out" trap. My bank roll started to seriously dwindle.

The end came when, after a bad day, I would play some shitty Euro soccer game I knew nothing about just because it was the only thing on the board at 5 AM. All of my capping research went out the window, and I was picking games off of bullshit I would read in a sportsbetting forum. I would play tennis because it was on the board at 9 AM. I had to have action every second of the day or I was miserable.

The end result is I managed to take a low six figure bankroll and make it disappear. When you are winning it is the most euphoric feeling in the world. Then you start to get so high on it you feel like you can't lose and all strategy, research, and common sense go out the window. I consider myself a damn good sports capper but put some money in my pocket and my brain turns to mush and I might as well be throwing darts at the sports page.

Sorry for the rambling...sometimes it's refreshing to know there's others out there that can relate. It keeps me from buying a sniper rifle and climbing to the top of Bank of America stadium waiting for Jake Dehomme to arrive.

I was doing a bunch of sports gambling last year. I quickly discovered, there is no way to win. In the long run you'll lose. Some have longer runs than others, but in the end the result is the same.

i can totally relate. i used to gamble and gambled professionally. i made so much fucking money and could never lose (playing 4-5-6... its a dice game kinda like craps that asians play). i was very well known for being so lucky, but due to the structure of the game, there is a lot of ways, you can edge the odds more in your favor and with enough cash, you can just keep doubling your bets and breaking everyone around you. i was always calm and cool and disciplined... but the more i won, the more i loved the high and the risk... it just kept going and going and going until i couldn't stop myself if i wanted to. in one night, i lost about 20K cash, a 4,000 watch and a car. towards the end, it was just a blur of money, cocaine, crown royal, pissed off losers going home and sleepless nights... where the pissed off losers from the day before would come back and lose more money that they borrowed.

That was the last time i ever bet on anything. I just refuse to do it. Its like saying "sure, i'll try that heroin... just a little bit". it was the last time i used drugs. that was about 13-14 years ago.
