Years ago a friend had one, pretty fast at the time. I think Dell or someone recently bought them?

Right it was bought out by Dell. Seriously overpriced machines.

If you want to put together a great looking machine check out these cases.

      I use this one: http://www.silverstonetek.com/raven/...php?model=RV02

Also this one is very nice: http://www.silverstonetek.com/raven/...=RV01&area=usa

are you have it for business or for game.
if you want a laptop to play game you can buy Alienware, but you want a laptop for office business you can buy this one.

I've checked them out for a while. I never bought one because they are so overpriced. When you buy something from Alienware, you're just buying something for the way it looks and they do look awesome. I've never heard any bad things about them, though. Someone I talked to online awhile back had one. He seemed to enjoy the hell out of it.

A $10 glass of wine also "tastes better" if the customer is told it's a $90 glass...

You can buy the same system for a much lower price from other custom builders or build it yourself and save even more.

                        Overpriced.

They are no faster than the machines I build for myself. Don't get sucked into a funky looking case. You'll pay twice as much as you need to.

I have an Alienware Area-51 X58 desktop (i7 2.66, 6gb ram, nvidia GTX 295) and an Alienware Area-51 m15x laptop (Core 2 Duo 2.5, 4gb ram, nvidia 8700M GT) both running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and love them.

I've always built my pc's from the time I was around 12 until about 22. Every 3-6 months I'd always build a new one, it was a hobby. When I turned 22 and got a real job, I started using Dell XPS machines at work and loved them. When I wasn't doing as much programming, I started using laptops, first a Toshiba, then a Dell, and now two Alienware's.

Just the pure stability of a manufacture built machine blows away anything that was ever home built. Not to mention how quiet they are, lack of cable clutter, etc...

You might pay a premium for the Alienware name, but I have no complaints.

Oh yeah, I don't have a game installed on either ;)

                            I have owned 5 .... really great machines! Still have 2 ...

Way better customer service before the Dell buy out. But still not bad. I was just used to the amazing customer service they had before they got bought .. so i was able to see the decline.

Overpriced for sure ... but i have no complaints. Paying for convience is sometimes worth it.

they should make a limited edition kool-aid alienware box.
