Ain't easy these days, rock has become something that has to be "mainstream" and "acceptable", it's not the revolt that filled the air for decades anymore, it just translates into another artificial genre that is supposed to fill 3 minutes of air time with something dull and tasteless, that eventually forces someones subconscious mind to buy it.
You open a Rolling Stone magazine and even their editors do write mainly about older proven acts that still tour and release albums, since there's not that much to write about with the "current" bands, that are busy to fulfill their "record 5 shitty records till we keep you on MTV" contracts.
Times when certain strong movements (punk rock, new wave, thrash, grunge, trip hop, even nu-metal used to have its cult audience before it went hype etc.) got their chance and piece of the mass media pie seem to be over for well over a decade.
