    Celebrity Sites, Copyrights and Fair Use

    What do you think ? Are celebrity sites completely illegal or are they borderline or are they legal outright ?

    I like to visit a few and know whats going on in movies and magazines and what I might have missed on tv, concerts, etc.

      Celeb magazines are a form of news, sometimes false or exaggerated news, but news nonetheless. Not illegal..
      If you're talkin about the adult celeb site.. well.. a bit of grey area there in my opinion, and they are usually dealt with on a case by case basis from what I've seen.

          Celebrity fakes passed off as real are unquestionably illegal (just ask Alyssa Milano). Playboy and other magazine pictures are subject to copyright laws. The only thing I'm not real sure about movie screencaps. I don't think there's much anybody can do about those, but I can't swear to that.

              Brujah: may I express my personal oppinion and point out that your site sucks goat balls ?
              I am looking for expired Yahoo and DMOZ domains, but what's the point of a fucking site if everythings requires a fucking membership to view ? I DO NOT want to join your site, - i just want to take a look at a damn list of availiable Yahoo domains !

                  If the Yahoo names were free. They'd disappear before you'd get a chance to register them most likely. The membership is necessary and justified.

                  Now that Yahoo is charging $299 and $600 recurring every year, for a listing.. the listings are even more valuable. Besides the immediate financial savings, there are some other extra benefits that outweigh the cost significantly. The ones that realize the extra benefits, know what a bargain it is.

                  We have a large enough group already. Obviously its not for everyone, and you don't have to join. I'm glad you stopped by and checked it out though. Feel free to ICQ me if you want a "peek" as a short trial.

                      Do you think that vidcaps/screencaps from movies, tv, etc.. should be ok ?

                      What do you think about Norm Zadeh (?) from Perfect 10 and the lawsuits for unfair competition ? A clip from the news page..

                              Yeah but he is selling domains that are in Yahoo - i'm not getting them for free - all I want is to check out what domains are availiable and the buy them fro this guy !

                                      I got an email from cybererotica about rogerceleb explaining how it was legal. I'm going from memory so I might be out a little

                                      But

                                      Apperently the RogerCeleb site offers videos for sale of mainstream movies, and the nude grabs of the celebs are classified as fair use for review purposes

                                      I think thats how it worked, FM might be able to add more info

                                          Fucking mooches. I offered a free peek at the names. You could sweep through and buy up 10 Yahoo listings if you wanted to, etc. Saving a nice $3,000 or more a year. I envy your genius. Duh.
