he's a big tall fucker.. so maybe some people expect that..
but i'm convinced he was struggling less than he was making out

i played US basketball with few 7 ft + blokes.. and some were very sharp
plus with that kinda reach Valuev shoulda caught Hayes more than he did..

so can't put his failure to attack, down to a constant defense..
he wasn't getting hit enough to be so slow / punch drunk,
and let's not forget HE was the champ coming into this..

Hayes was impressive, was the fight of his life so far for sure,
but left himself wide open plenty of times during his showboating,
Valuev never fully exploited his height/weight advantage
if he had steamed in fists blazing early on, while he was sharp,
Hayes woulda likely got KO'd.. but they dragged it the distance
to keep the punters happy.. nobody wants to get booed for R1 KO

could be Valuev wants to retire.. but needs another payday before he does..
or maybe they're worried he would become the Williams sisters of boxing..

The thing is, Valuev looked far sharper against guys that were true heavyweights and also slow of foot. Haye is a blown up cruiserweight and had much better speed and footwork than anyone Valuev has ever faced in the past, and I think that confused the hell out of Valuev. I thought Valuev threw a lot more punches than he usually does, but he didn't take advantage when he had Haye on the ropes. In the end he just got out boxed by a smaller, faster fighter that didn't take enough chances for Valuev to capitalize on his size...
