I always open up with this in a debate with the religious when they try to play their holier than thou card and it pisses them off every time.

What they generally say is that you cannot understand the bible unless the holy spirit, whatever the fuck that is, decides to open your heart 'to da truth a JEEEEEEEEESUS'. If you are against the bible, their stupid religion, and their idiot make believe god, it must be that god has chosen to blind you to the truth so that he can roast you in eternal hellfire, after which they become condescending and say 'I pray dat da holy spirit will open you up to da truth'.
What they are REALLY saying is that you can't understand the bible until you have been brainwashed into accepting all the bullshit it spews. I can't understand how they can all say that the bible is 100% correct about everything and has never been proven wrong, ever. What total BS. Not only does it have errors, but it is wrong about almost EVERYTHING. You can't seriously be a believer in that crap unless you have decided to turn off your mind completely, become one of the zombie sheeple, and never entertain a single original thought the rest of your life.
