MODERN CHURCHES ARE POLITICAL MACHINES and should be taxed. Enough of this 'hiding behind the separation of church and state only when it is convenient' shit. You want to generate more tax revenues, TAX THE FUCKING CHURCHES AND THE HYPOCRITE FAITH HEALER CHARLATANS like Benny Hill. That fucking freak should be in jail.

Homophobia is much older than organized religion, as is misogyny, but both would be FAR LESS significant were it not for backwoods redneck organized religion.
I agree that religions should not be tax exempt and they are inherently political in nature (see the Roman Catholic Church and Islam for two obvious examples).

But I disagree that opposition to homosexual marriage is irrational. Cultural traditions and identities are an important part of the human instinct. There is nothing particularly irrational about them. Furthermore there are plenty of rational reasons for opposition to gay marriage.

Western cultural traditions also frown upon polygamy and incest. Laws against polygamy and incest also infringe on people's ability to have a relationship with whom they choose. There are legitimate arguments on both sides of the issue.
