    Retro Gaming

All these new games. Impressive T&L effects, some amazing gfx but the gameplay is lacking for me.

Anyone play any of the old classics? Quake2/Everquest ect?

I think a GFY q2 server would be fun

hehe. I have an Apple IIe emulator on my comp. I play all the old school 80's games with the shitty graphics and terrible sound.

    They were fun.

It is in my eyes - Meridian 59 and UO are the same. Those three games started the MMORPG market and EQ pushed the first-person view to the standard it is now.

If it wasn't for the Cleric nerfs, I'd still be playing EQ. Made the class completely useless.

I still play on Fennin Ro once in a while. Never got a high level character, though. EQ takes a long time, this biz takes a long time - one of them had to give.

sim city (1), nascar racing (1), duke nukem1 and 2, monster bashers, day of the tentacle, indiana jones 3&4, larry 1-6... those were THE games.

I also love all these older arcade games (www.mame.dk offers some if you state that you "own" the originals )

                              q2= retro? lol

starcraft and unreal tournament did REALLY good concerning online servers and players though.
I still play brood war once a week usually.. some real good new maps every time, its just perfectly balanced

I played on Rallos Zek exclusively - PvP added a bit more spice to the game. Got two accounts with a lot of caharcters on it, but I played it before I got into the biz.

As for Q2, I consider it "retro" - okay it's not quite 80's arcade game retro, but an older game that has sadly faded into the background. IMO, the new breed of FPS games cannot hold a candle to it gameplay-wise.

And yes, I will play anyone 1v1 on Q2 Throw down those gauntlets

Sorry - maybe I should have said "older games" instead of "retro".

I still play Everquest. I'm on Morell Thule. I have a High Elf Cleric and she's great. Clerics are in high demand on that game. I never have a problem finding a group to play with. What's a "Cleric Nerf" anyways ?

A nerf is something that a specific character/spell/item had that gave a good bonus, and was exploited. Thus causing that character/spell/item to be removed, made untradble or taken down a notch.

Actually the two nerfs I am talking about are:

                                          (a) The healing aggro change - on a PvP server, this equals dead cleric 99% of the time.
                                          (b) The nerf to CH - god I hated that.

Rallos was a fun place for a while. My cleric had a nice amount of kit for his level, but wearing it except on raids was a pain in the ass because of item loot.

                                          I also have a 51 Shaman - now that's a PvP class

I was a guide for a while as well, and that was (for a bit) more fun than actually playing. Save from the morons who constanly whined about being killed in PvP on a PvP server (Vallon Zek), had a great time.

Then I started in this biz and gave it all up. I highly reccomend applying to be a guide if you're still playing.

I keep telling myself that I'm going to buy an Atari 2600 soon but I never do. I'm looking for one in good condition with the paddles for Warlord. Now that was fun. And nothing beats playing combat drunk (with friends, of course). sigh...

The best game ever was Ultima Underworld 2.
No game has ever matched it's depth or intelligence since.

That baby took me about 2 months to complete and had me completely engrossed (like a book) from start to finish.

I long for another game like it.

You can keep your mindless shooters. This was role playing at it's best.
