You are correct sir... I upgraded to XP from 2K because of this very reason. But I waited for SP1 on XP because it took until then for them to work out major kinks including massive driver problems.
Yes, Vista and 7 share the same core. It was the ME like bells and whistles in Vista that sucked, not the underlying core. I actually liked many things about Vista except for it was as if Microsoft was trying a second time to cram ME down our throats.
Windows 7 seems to have stripped away the crap-shit and left us with a usable operating system that is working flawless for me. It is doing everything I ever wanted. Granted a lot of it has to also do with my upgraded computer. 4 cores, 6 gigs of ram.... I love this fucking thing now. Which is more than I could say about the computer running XP...
Ohh.. and no more patching TCPIP.SYS... they did away with the half open limits (or at least how they worked)... I can download shit at 1.8mps now without patching and be connected to 100 people...
