I've been thinking about it, but I also think pain is an important part of getting the tattoo. Any thoughts, experiences on this are appreciated.

I got my tattoo (4 symbols) down the inner forearm ... one of the nasty places to get it done ... but I didn't have any anesthetic... It's fucking horribly painful, but dude .... it doesn't last that long ... my ear peircings (top of the back of my ear) hurt more over time ... the tattoo stops hurting almost immediately after the needle comes off ....
Sure... the needle feels like a scalpel taking chunks from your arm or whatevr .... but it only lasts the duration of the tattoo creation

I've had lots of work done and the pain always goes away after a while .. the only places that had steady pain was the elbow (inside and outside) and in the armpit .... I actually fallen asleep during some of my work. Then again the artist says i sit very well ..better then most
I say just go for it. The pain changes you... makes it all worth it

funny story .... i had both of my forearms touched up and then they bandage em up and shit... so afterwards i call my doc and say yo i need to come asap ...
So i come in all bandaged up like i was in a war zone and tell him , yo give me some damn painkillers .... he wrote me a script but only to last me for a few daysComment

The pain is totally part of the experience. I got my nipples pierced a few weeks ago, most intense horrible pain I've ever felt.... and I'm so glad I did. It was very enlightening, I felt euphoric for days after.Comment

I'm a big pussy when it comes to any type of pain, I can take a piercing no problem but a tatt is different. So when I got the tatt on my leg I used Emla. It doesn't take the pain away per say but it just dulls it a bit. However the larger the tattoo is the less it works because as you're getting worked on it starts to wear off.pinkysteph AT gmail DOT com

I have both arms (one full sleeve ) a little on my back right below my neck (that did hurt a bit but no more then the elbow or armpit ) and one inside my Lip that hurt pretty good.
I hear the chest is pretty bad (sure I'll find out soon ) and I can see the foot hurting.
I don't think i would say any of them are worth using a cream.
