Getting an exclusive shoot done, should I pay after I get the content?

I do not normaly attend the shoot.
Many photographers I have dealt with before just invoice me afterwards.
People I have yet to do business with, typically up to 50% up front, rest on delivery.

Some I am more picky with, like model fees up front, remaining amount to equal 50% on said completion and screen shots. 25% sent with emailing of scanned releases and docs, remaining 25% on delivery.

Normally I get payment afterwards. If they steal from me, then they dont own it and I feel they will suffer in the long run. I will just sell the content to someone else. But After Shock that seems like a good system. When you sell to the same people more then once you build up trust and there is no issue. Why can't you leave with the content after the shoot? Most is digital now anyway so leave with a DVD of pics and the video. Is there editing involved?

We do it 50-50. Once we shot for the client a few times and build up trust we stop requiring the 50% deposit.

first time buyers must pay 100% advance with us.Anyway we produce for long term customers only and don't have a time for any1 else so they all pay after delivery.Ussualy they pay when they owe me 10-15K

I looked at your site..

nice shooting & some ok girls, but damn.. fire the makeup artist.. way too much pancake mix on those girls.. looks like shit all that sticky color crap on them. (on the combo packs)
