So I am scared to do any strength training or really get my heart rate up, until i can take off enough weight to lower the strain on my heart.
Of course I am not a doctor, nor has any health professional told me that. I think its just common sense to me in a way though.

Actually weight training helps in a couple of ways. First, weight training along with your walking would help slow down the amount of muscle tissue you are losing. Second, the more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn

You don't have to go at it like an animal and strain yourself but, some form of weight training would be good for you and your heart. If you have any reservations about it though, get a check up with your Dr.
And good on you for sticking with it!
