Serious Question: Do politicians do anything?

Do politicians do anything now? Or do they just make laws restricting what we can do, say, protest etc?

Just curious if the government does positive stuff.

They take money from special interest groups, and answer to big corporations, instead of the people that vote them in.

They line their pockets with our money, and in the end we are left with 2 idiots to choose from. One is usually corrupt, and the other one is usually corrupt.

We need to ban all forms of corporate and special interest campaign contributions and gifts, but since politicians make the rules, guess when that will actually happen...

We should do away with career politicians. How do you gain political power? By dividing people into groups and pandering to them, and making new laws with your name on it.
If people would Wake the Fuck Up and realize that ,and all Laws should be based on Individual Rights

So far the feedback is that politicians make money. Anyone else?

Politics should be structured for the people, by the people, just like jury duty.

One day you check your mail, and presto, you are now summoned to be the mayor for 3 months, or the governor, or maybe even the president!

          Now THAT would be interesting!

Read the book The Great Derangement by Matt Taibbi.

I can't adequately paraphrase or summarize his insights, so I'm not even going to try. Just get a copy and read that sucker. Funny as hell, and painfully spot-on about many things, including the nature and role of Congress.

They do a lot but most of it is just legislation for the sake of getting re-elected. Really if they spent half their time repealing old outdated laws life would be much easier rather than trying to think up new laws to appease the masses that are stupid.
