Go with colored water, real milk will stink forever, even if you dilute it with say 2/3 of water. About the cereals, see for yourself in a bowl of corn flakes, they get soggy after say 5 minutes or so. Putting you in the spot of either having to have huge amounts and change every so often or start thinking about some plastic substitute for the shots from a little distance and maybe only real cereals for the close up shots?

An outdoor shower for yourself, or at least a bucket of water and a rag so you could wipe yourself clean in between would probably come in handy also. You don't want soggy cereals all over yourself when doing pictures series.
