Exactly.
They were very accurate in their measurments of the Earth's cycles around the sun. That's why it's interesting to note, there are not to my knowledge any clear cut predictions regarding 2012. Their calendar simply ends.
Imagine if you will a nuclear war were to break out suddenly at the end of this year, and wipe all the species off this earth. If intelligent life were to again evolve on Earth, or find Earth from somewhere else and find a fossilised 2009 calendar, they might also assume that Homo Sapiens were accurately able to predict their own demise!
