Kids always change us!! I don't have any, but I have nephews who changed all the family...
well its little changes i think so far, but overall, I cant wait! I am very excited and eager to have my daughter and start doing the fun stuff of being a dad!
Things that used to concern me are the furthest from my mind. Things I used to want, mean nothing.... just an overall sense that some things in life do not matter while others matter tremendously.

I'm still a member of the "No Babies" club myself. I think when someone has a child it should completely change everything, not that that's a bad thing, but not something I'm ready to do just yet.

so all this happy dad stuff is going to go away rather quickly isnt it? LOL
Happy now, but in two years (terrible 2s) ill be pulling my hair out, I know... I know its going to be up and down, its now or never, at 33 I am ready. We put it off and planned for her and didnt want to do it until we were in a house and were ready.
so here i am, up to bat, sun is out, all i gotta do is swing.

T-shirt hell has some hilarious baby clothes, totally inappropriate stuff for visits with the in-laws.
.
nah not into offensive stuff, just music related things. I wouldnt put tshirt hell stuff on the baby lol but band stuff, she already has Ramones and Misfits clothes and she aint born yet. LOL
it's an enlightening experience... it changes all your priorities and leaves you paranoid beyond your wildest dreams. Everything will scare you or concern you when it comes to your kid. You'll want to put bars on your windows and security cameras all over your home to keep your baby safe inside.
But when you're done with all your worries, it's the most wonderful feeling in the world.

that about sums it up.
was quite a bit nervous at first, but that subsided to my eagerness and anticipation.
Ive been having dreams about finally "seeing" her in person etc... time is nearing and I guess my mind is making the proper adjustments for the new reality.
enlightening is a great description of the feeling.
Good luck to you! Make sure the mother stays off her feet and gets lots of rest these last 9 weeks. This is the time to begin going easy on the sex or quit until you reach the due date. If she does not have the baby soon after the due date then have lots of sex to help bring on labor. Sex releases oxytocin which is required for labor. Make sure she drinks lots of water.
Make sure the mother breastfeeds for at least one year. (the longer the better) Don't use that crappy formula EVER. If the mother cannot produce enough milk then buy some from one of the 100,000 women who have extra and are selling it. My friend had a son 15 months ago and she is still feeding him breastmilk. The kid is freaking gorgeous and brilliant. It is proven that kids who are fed breastmilk vs formula have less health problems for their entire lifespan, grow bigger/stronger, and score higher in tests.
I have 2 kids with my ex wife and she fed them breastmilk for 2 full years. My kids are ahead of most the other kids in school and are super healthy.
Don't be a piece of shit like 90% of parents who feed their kids loads of sugar and set them in from of the TV for hours on end.
Parents wonder why their kids have problems

Thank you!
I gave my wife (cherrylula) the rest of the year off months ago, fortunately she and I both work from home so other than her checking her stats and maybe paying some domains here and there, she has the rest of the year off as far as I am concerned ;)

My wife was breastfed and she plans on doing that. She has an aunt who gives classes on breastfeeding and has wanted to do it naturally for as long as we have talked about it.

Neither my wife or I sit in front of the TV, I havent wacthed television in years and only was forced to during our last hurricane evacuation (had to watch the news) and we dont drink soda, there are never 2 liters of cola here or anything like that. We probably have one of the healthiest lifestyles of people on this forum

Kids don't know what chips and soft drinks are! It was so refreshing to see my sisters kids walking around with carrots/celery/apples in their hands instead of Doritos. Good habits for life.
IMPORTANT: Please teach your child to swim. This is so easily done while they are also learning to walk .... There is enough to worry about while they are growing up drowning shouldn't be one of them.

Great Fletch just great. Sounds like you 2 have are off to a good start I wish the 3 of you the best.
well as I said above, we are in our 30s, not a pair of twenty something goofballs who made a mistake LOL we planned for her, she was not an accident (unlike most children born these days) She will be born to a married couple who have been together for over 10 years and have long thought this out and are ready.
My wife and I were both not "against" having kids one day, just wanted to *wait* until we were in a house with a nice big backyard and be able to offer our child what we felt was an environment they could grow in.
My wife has the mastermind personality so she plans everything out 20 steps ahead... the mountain may be high but we shall climb this.

Braineaters is my daughters favorite song. She's just started actually saying the words.
I'm trying to find some tiny sound reducing ear muffs so that I can take her to see KISS when they come through this fall/winter.
I don't think 18 months is too young for that.
wifey says when I turn up the music around here the baby moves even more. Any child of mine will be around more music/audio/music equipment than she can imagine. I get up early and the music starts when I arise.
I think the Amon Amarth and Nashville Pussy gets her moving the most LOL
I think she likes Turbonegro too, just like her momma ;)
You are in for such an amazing time. Sounds like this little girl is going to be very loved and well taken care of. Congrats to you and your wife!
Thank you and yes, she will be very loved. My mom had already written us off as parents saying I wouldnt be a father ever,... she started crying and jumping up and down when we surprised her and told her. She had no idea we were even *trying to get pregnant* so she started hopping all around and tearing up saying "i cant believe it, I cant believe it..." My mom is the type who needs kids to waste her money on or she aint having fun LOL
We also have plans for only 1, so all attention will be devoted to her and her education.
are you gonna watch the delivery or stand behind the curtain ?
I plan on being right there, however, Im not going to get in the doctors way or anything trying to peak or anything LOL This is my first time so I am not sure about the setting in delivery room but I will definitely be in there.

Ask the doctor to let you catch the baby. He/she will get the head and shoulders out and you can put your hands down there and the doc will gently hand the rest of the job over to you. Then as soon as your daughter is fully out you lift her up to the mother and you all spend a a few moments together. Let your daughters first faces, voices, and touches be of mommy and daddy instead of a bunch of people wearing surgical masks and latex gloves
I did this when my son was born and he stared me in the eyes for about 20 seconds without even blinking. Mine was the first face he saw. The experience really moved me and I am so glad I decided to do it this way.

The terrible twos are relative. I didn't find my children behaved any worse at 2, and in fact were more of a handful as they got older and learned more You will be fine, you are a great age, mature and ready for this step. Children are a wonderful thing, and even though they require sacrifices in some areas of your life, they make up for it in leaps and bounds in other ways. You and Cherry will be great parents.

Something that will help Cherry as she progresses is to go on her hands and knees and rock back and forth, this helps relieve pressure for her, helps to strengthen the muscles that she will require for childbirth, and also helps the baby get into a good position for delivery. A little bit every day goes a long way.

Thats what Ive been told... thank you for kind words.

She does daily preggo exercises and has DVDs of preggo yoga she has been doing too. She is actually more active than most pregnant women I bet.
I had to tell her to get inside the other day she was out in the garden pulling weeds and it was too hot to be out!
Cherry has been preparing for this physically for years LOL we had the DVDs for her before she even got pregnant I think
Because of the time it took away from your work? Yes that can be the case but for me I found when I became a father many other business people (who also had children) began to treat me with more respect. Sort of like I was "in their club".
Fletch, are you going to cut the umbilical cord too?
I did with all of my kids...it was this sort of connection I developed to them in doing so...
these things are still being discussed.... ive gutted deers and skinned and cleaned just about every animal with two or 4 legs, but when it comes to this stuff, I am actually being a bit less eager to get bloody... just being honest.
While I am huge Tom Savini fan, i tend to be a bit squeamish when it comes to child birth stuff I blame it on Catholic school, fuckers were trying to Pro-Life propaganda us from K-8thgrade, so we watched that Miracle of Birth too much and I got child birthing anxiety now lol Ive watched videos of it and feel its still up in the air.
