Honestly if you are a webmaster and can't figure out how to do that you need to go work at kfc or something. No offense, but this is day one stuff. There are extremely clear instructions and tutorials on the wp site, and instructions for any issues you might have.
I upgraded some old ass ones the other day without a single issue, and those were pretty modified ones. Then again I see a lot of the "non newbies" Or old timers who are lucky to be able to even setup wp to begin with.
And if he did infact get the "worm" thats out there there are clearcut instructions on how to fix that as well. Wordpress is one of the easiest blog software to install, upgrade, modify, etc etc. Thats why its so friggin popular.
Again no offense to anyone, but if you can't handle doing something like this, and you work as a webmaster, you need to learn how to do it on your own.  |
this is assuming you're using default or really well made themes and everything is perfect and you have no customizations in code, plugins or whatever. If you're using custom themes, chances are you'll need to replace deprecated tags to the very least (let alone if the customization uses plugin includes)

256 plugins. less than 10% of the active documented plugins less than 1 year ago. It's safe to assume somebody using WP1.5 will have trouble with his/her plugins, unless he's using only that lucky 8-10% of working plugins. And if not, he'll need plugins and databases updated. Probably plugins will need to be replaced and databases converted. if you can do that kind of work for $20, I've shitloads of work for you. Just convert, rebuild and test databases takes me several hours (I'm pretty dumb, I admit it), so I'd be happy to give that work to anyone willing to do it for 5 or 20 buck as I saw in this thread
Anyway, just guessing, because to be honest I have no fucking idea, just talking out of my ass
