I just went to ABC to watch an episode of a show from this week. I saw in a mag they had them for free so I wanted to try instead of paying the $1.99 on ITunes (yeah I know most of you fuckers just download a torrent or something).
Anyway, I get the episode in a good embedded vid player that runs 1/4 of the episode then comes to a short 30 second commercial with an option to click for a coupon to use in the store for said product or order it online. I can click to start the next quarter and ignore the commercial if I want or I can watch, get my coupon or whatever then come back and start the second part of my show.
I just felt this was finally TV getting shit right. This is how broadcast should be whenever they finally make TV interactive across the board. I feel much less intruded on than I do being forced to watch commercials for like 5 minutes on a live show and I have the option to grab coupons and shit or make an impulse buy... I think the return on investment for advertisers will be MUCH higher when this becomes the norm.
Now it leaves me wondering how I can incorporate something like this into adult biz? It'd be great to have extended vid clips available on some super MGP with offers on breaks. Basically that's what an MGP page is doing with the gallery page itself but I'd think the hit rate might be better with longer vids that have offers basically embedded. Then again once a guy pops his load maybe not. It'd be worth seeing if the model got a return though.
