The reality is there are around 100 deaths daily in Iraq - on all sides. Today the headlines are Iraqi cops, tomorrow it's "insurgents", the next day US troops.

Oddly Baghdad used to have a thriving nightlife and the country used to have a tourist trade. It still has the "thriving nightlife" but instead of clubs it's more a shooting gallery - and the tourist trade seems to have dropped a little, with the exception of US folks in uniform going out on excusions and exploring the outback

Winning a war, which we very quickly did, and policing occupied territory are completely different things.
It's not like Iraq had a popular leader in exile to assume power. We won the war and ... "now what" ... Elections? lol .... right,
Different factions, are fighting for a very lucrative prize. US troops and Iraq civilians are caught in the middle, both loosing trust in each other as time passes.
I propose we move the United Nations from New York to Bagdad. Make Iraq the worlds problem, up close and personal. Other-wise all we have done is make the Middle East less stable than it was.
