dubbing from dv camera to dv camera?

    dubbing from dv camera to dv camera?

    I have never had to dub dv tapes using only cameras. tonight is a first and i can't get it to work.

    They are hooked up firewire, I can get the signal into the cam to record but I can't get it to record in any mode.

    What's the deal?

              you dont use the fire wire use the rca to rca and set the second one on vcr

                      never dv to dv I did vhs to dv. Try a few minutes and see how it looks.

                          have done dv 2 dv
                          and all I did was firewire
                          one plays other records
                          and worked perfectly

                              Use the firewire.

                              Put the playback camera in playback mode (not record more).

                              Put the record camera in record mode.

                              Click "record". The playback camera should start playing back automatically.

                                  Tried that out of the gate, not working. That was how I thought it should work. Hmmmmm.

                                              It's almost impossible to set up between cams. Firewire needs to be dumped to a computer first.

                                              Having said that I own a mini DV duplicator if you need someone who can dupe your tapes. ICQ me 137 202 998

                                                  set both to vcr

                                                  one is the player, on to record

                                                  cue both tapes

                                                  set "rec" cam to rec pause

                                                  press play on "play" cam

                                                  you should see "play" cam footage on both lcds

                                                  hit play to disactivate the pause on the recording cam.

                                                  bada bing.

                                                  some camz dont have "rec pause" rather other variants but this is the general idea and works.
