    I just stepped up to the plate...

    I had a really good virtual hosting account that I loved ... but we all know you have limitations on shared hosting.

    I avoided it for as long as I could, but I just upgraded to my first managed box.

    I feel like a real player now.

    In the excitement department, I rate this right up there with getting my first check.

    I'll miss the $20 monthly bill...

    Well, actually, I had two shared accounts with two different hosts ... so I was paying a bit more than that.

              Now hopefully your upgrade isn't a Pentium 3 with 256MB RAM and 50 gigs of monthly transfer, all for the low price of $499

                      Shit, you mean that's not a good deal?

                      I have those specs, except it's $599/mo. and only 25 GB of transfer.

                      EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that my friend is hosting it for me in his basement data center ... he has a blazing DSL connection!

                          buy a backup plan with that box and test them(your hosting company) from time to time by asking for old pages.

                              I made sure to get a backup plan ... I also do a full backup on CPanel on my own now and again. I didn't think about testing them though and that is a good idea ... especially with some of the horror stories I've read.
