IMO, there is no "great" Mexican beer. But any (other) Mexican beer is better than Corona. Dos Equis is ok, Negra Modelo is better.

Disagreed on corona, tho.

I still prefer MGD to all of them. Its just good to have alternate go-to options sometimes.

Dos Equis is not a bad beer, but I do have a fond memory of puking it up when I was leaving Cancun once. I was so desperate for some decent food, I gorged myself on an entire Dominos pizza some guy on the corner was selling... and the next morning, I drank a beer before I boarded... couldn't hold it down.

Dos Equis

Dos Equis is a pale lager that was originally brewed by the German brewer Wilhelm Hasse in 1897. The brand was named "Siglo XX" ("20th century") to commemorate the arrival of the new century, and the bottles were marked with the Roman numerals "XX", or "Dos Equis" (two Xs).

Most of Cuauhtemoc Beers (Tecate, XX Lager, Sol and Indio) are poor quality beers in Mexico, except Bohemia, Superior and XX Ambar
I rather go with the Modelo Family (Leon, Montejo, Modelo Light Blue, Victoria), I dont really like Corona.
I heard XX Lager is rocketing in sales in the US (above Corona now), good for them

I tried Dos Equis back in the early 90's in Mexico. The one's that weren't skunky weren't actually all that bad, but unfortunately a lot of them were (skunky) and tasted like piss.

I might give it another try if I see it in beer stores here.
