Its a mass mail. When you respond he will say he needs an appraisel and will suggest a few companies. He gets a % for sending customers there way.

Must be a nice business because way too many people fall for it since everybody thinks their domain name is worth a fortune.

I got one like that I thought was one of the appraisal ones, I told the person to make an offer and they did, sale went though no problems.....

But I have had the appraisal ones also, most of them have the confidential clause at the bottom.....

if im not mistaken, its the same guys who, when you search to see if a domain name is available, and you DONT buy it within 2 days, and the name sounds good, they will buy it but wont even use it

I had one over the weekend... they played back and forth, trying to get me to name a price on a domain (that I hadn't listed as for sale)... I finally got them to make an offer, and it was way low (about 75% below what I would have even considered) and it ended there.

I have had people try to buy really good domains on the super cheap, one good 4 letter domain someone offered me $150, and had the balls to mention that it was more than I was paying to register it for 10 whole years!
