Never gonna happen.
I've always thought of "the Federation" on Star Trek as a United Nations type of thing.
No, we'll never have one world government. There are too many different countries with too many different ideas of how they want to live. Then there are a lot of smaller countries, ruled by kings, that frankly don't care what the rest of the world is doing.
