It's beyond stupid to act like Bill Maher is "disrespecting" Steve Irwin and hursting his leftover family's feelings. If someone's death is hysterically funny for people who didn't know him on a personal level, that is totally legit when the guy made his livelihood acting like an idiot, exploiting and disturbing animals. It's nobody's fault but Steve Irwin's that he's dead; we shouldn't be deprived of getting a chuckle out of it.
Comics jobs are to find meaning by pushing the envelope and saying things no one else is willing to say. The meaning of Steve Irwin's death is not even absurd; it was just to be expected (finally). Maybe his children will learn from this not to follow in his footsteps.Comment
