Fact: Most soldiers now in Iraq were bad students

What's up with America getting all offended when a politician tells the truth for once?

Most grunts in the military are dumb and lack education. They didn't choose their careers because they preferred getting shot at by brainwashed idiots over going to Harvard, most of them chose it because they had few other options open to them.

im not sure your argument holds water ( that military people are less smart than civilians ) or that most people do it because theres few options open..

I think you would need something to base that on..

Im sure there are some stupid peope there but theres alot more stupid civilians i think they just dont have guns and make tough decisions nor are they held up to such high standards..

Most americans couldnt jog with a 30 lb backpack for 1/4 mile i think heh not that that has anything to do with stupididty but..

I think lots of people who join are actually true patriots who are actually trying to do a good thing and that doesnt make them stupid.. foolhardy maybe , gullible a bit perhaps , but not stupid..

Theres prob alot of power trippers as well

but again these types of people exist in civilian life 2

Basic soldiers have a low-paid job that doesn't require too much in the way of education. Good students can, relatively easily, become officers.

Sure, most civilians lack education and intelligence, too. The average person has an IQ of 100 and a high school diploma, was a relatively bad student, and didn't have many job options.

Most soldiers are like janitors, factory workers, gardeners, carpenters, cops, firemen, car salesmen, etc. in terms of education and intelligence. Not like lawyers, doctors, corporate managers, college professors, etc.

I agree with you man. I had/have a lot of friends that are military and I know from hanging out with them at the barracks that 80% of them aren't the brightest flares in the sky...

Officers are a different story, but the grunts/infantry/etc are a bunch of chest beating wackos

it's similar to the practice of not calling a retard a retard to their face...people often like to think highly of themselves so when somebody brings them down to their real level it becomes uncomfortable for them...

              Surprised?
Suffering arises from attachment to desires.
Suffering ceases when attachment to desire ceases.

This thread is yet again, some moron basing a "fact" on nothing but what you think, not what you know. Fact: Most people in the military go in to serve their country or to get an education because they can't afford it.

While your at it just call everyone in this country stupid, since you seem to think that only doctors, lawyers, etc are smart. Hmm, last time I checked I knew quite a few lawyers that were fucking idiots. I knew more about the law than they did. That happens when your not smart and daddy writes a big check to the University to get them in.

Actually, the military tried to recruit me when I came out of high school. My degree would have gotten me straight into officer's training, and the moment I joined up I would have been an officer.

                      Nice try, though

So you wouldn't agree that people with academic degrees, on average, have a higher intelligence and did better in school than those who become privates in the army?

In that case, there is little point in arguing with you, since you're braindead.

Fact: More men and women have left the military to run highly profitable bisinesses than graduate from a university.

Just because you start college, does not mean that you are smart, or that you will make anything of your self.

I was a Light Infantryman in the army during Desert Storm.

Ah, but that's coming out... not going in.

The military's strict discipline means that even the biggest class clown has to do his homework and will be much better off for it.

I am inclined to agree that most people (not all) who enlist are only doing so because they have very few options otherwise.

Their life after that is forever different than their life before.

Interesting. My cousin is a nuclear engineer for the Navy and graduated from both high school and college with a 4.0 average. His SAT scores were around 1450 or so. Yes what a bunch of big dummies we have in our military.

Hard to generalize, but I really don't know of any sibblings of congressman's, ceo's, etc ... that are in the forces...

For some, joingning is te only way out they can see :

Alvin Kilmer decided to join the US Army when he was 18 years old. There was really nothing much else to do in Tupelo, Mississippi. “I need to get out of here. Anywhere will do. I just need change.” He explained all of that to Sergeant Ralph Peterson in the Boxwood Mall shopping center. He’d been hanging out at the mall lately with Eddie Morangello and Swifty Lankhurst. Their sole objective had been to spot girls.

This is not a USA phenomena ... Who do you think join the Iraqi forces in Iraq ...
I know that Asspimple is stoopid ... As he says, it is a FACT !

But I can't figure out how he can breathe or type , at the same time ....

The smarter GIs usually get out after they serve 1 term. Thats what I saw anyway (on average)

Libertine thinks GFY is indicative of the United States and this is where the error in his logic comes from. In other words, don't get mad at him, pity the poor fella.

I agree with John Kerry, but you just can't say it as a politician.
And what he said was blown WAY out of proportion.
Did you see Farenheit 911? The recruiters go out into poor areas and try to grab the "low hanging fruit" to sign up for the military.

I don't think it's really true. The only thing I'd say is that it typically has a larger demographic of guys who grew up in poorer communities. This is more due to the recruiting centers typically targeting those communities.

Having fewer options doesn't mean dumb. A lot of your military guys are earning money to pay for college that they would otherwise not be able to afford.

Hey idiot... a private in the infantry is the same rank as a private helicopter mechanic, radar technician, air traffic controller, satellite systems operator, medic, combat engineer, cannon crewmember, etc

And did you actually believe it when the recruiter told you that you'd be an instant officer if you joined because of your degree? Damn, and you call OTHER people stupid?

This "someone" may in fact be more intelligent, but I'm betting I'd find the alleged "retard" more pleasant to be around.

They didn't choose their careers because they preferred getting shot at by brainwashed idiots over going to Harvard, most of them chose it because they had few other options open to them.

The only point I can think of that I haven't addressed yet is that of soldiers working to be able to go to college.

Indeed, many are. They have to work to be able to pay for college because they weren't able to get scholarships based on academic merit. In other words, they didn't do well enough in high school.

                                                                                          Happy now?

My cousin is a nuclear engineer for the Navy and graduated from both high school and college with a 4.0 average. His SAT scores were around 1450 or so. Yes what a bunch of big dummies we have in our military.
