The Most Dangerous Mammal in the US

What do you think? Which mammal poses the greatest threat to human life in the United States ? If you answered The Grizzley Bear, you are wrong. If you answered The Mountain Lion, you are wrong.

Its scientific name is canis familiaris and you all know it as the common dog:

    http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/02/16/cri...eut/index.html

Can you imagine the horror this little girl endured as four rottweilers tore her apart?

I know there are many responsible owners of large, aggressive dogs, but all too often, the more dangerous the dog, the more likely the owner is to be a moron.

    that's just sad.

Idiots should not be allowed to get dogs like that, or any animal for that matter. They deserve to be shot.

Rottwielers are one of the most maintenance intensive breeds out there, but with proper training and care from their owners can be extremely loyal and obedient. I've seen both extremes of the situation. Bah.

My friend lives with his mother in a really bad part of town. So bad the poice don't patrol it, and if they get a call will only go in with 3 squad cars or more. His mom is a pet lover and has shittons of animals. But their guard dog is a beast of a rotty. Weighs like 160lbs or something insane, her head is just under my chest and I'm 6 foot!

Anyways, I wasn't really paying attention and walked into the area where the dog is kept. Of course, I see this bigass thing staring at me and growling and nearly peed my pants. ;) She started towards me, but the second the "stop" command was given she immediately stopped. That was the first time I was over there, now she is just suspicious of me for a while when I first go over. ;)

But, it took a lot of care and maintence and training to get the dog trained like that. Most seem to shove the thing in their back yards and ignore it other than to beat it when they want it to shut the hell up.

    those people should be shot.

You are right of course, but you know what I meant.

fuck I hate dogs....there are a lot of stupid fucks here who buty dogs like rotweilers or pitbulls and train them to be agressive - shit !! And you know what ? I cant fucking protect myself - cause if I harm the dog or kill it when it atacks me - i could be charged with "animal abuse" and can get a fucking sentence.

btw, whats the best weapon agains dogs (exept firearms) ? I'm thinking about buying a nice hunter knife and start carying it around. Its against the law, but I'd hate to fight some monster with bare hands.

I hate to see shit like that

The owner should be drawn and quartered

I own a rotti and she is the Sweetest most loveing animal

I have 2 other dogs (mutts) and they are more agressive than sasha (rotti) is
BUT sasha was raised around people all the time (she was a bar dog in Key West) so it isnt in her nature to be agressive

Its ALL in the raising of the dog

I have seen labs and retreivers More agressive than
              "Big Dogs"

Treat your dogs as if they are your kids and they will grow up well adjusted

Dub said the house "was a pigsty" with trash strewn about.
There was no phone in the house and the girls were left alone. Who lets their 10 year old go to a house like that unattended ? Not only are these people bad parents to their kids but most likey to the dogs as well. Every time I watch that new show about the police who look for animal cruelty, they show Rotts, Pitts, and Shepards. People buy these dogs and think they are like the dogs in the Disney movies.

Those dogs are abused, the kids are neglected/abused, and this an obvious case of bad parents.

Actually, the most dangerous mammal ever are primates generally... humans, specifically.

Just think about the number of extinctions we've caused and the millions of habitat acres we've destroyed. Not to mention, the environmental degradation we have wrought.

apparently the only way to get a pitbull that has lock-jawed onto you off your leg is to stick your finger all the way up it's ass.. don't ask me how they found that little one out...

PS i own staffordshire bull terriers.. the fucking coolest dogs on earth.. can look as mean as fuck (males) with their MASSIVE heads but they're the biggest wusses - like little kids all whimpering for attention and licking people to death.. just a visual deterrent...

i think dogs are like people for the most part. your environment makes you what you are. its obvious the dogs werent trained to be just house pets and the owners are responible

my dads friends dogs(1/2 wolf 1/2 husky) tried to eat me. i thought they were just normal dogs. but, later found out the guy fed them live rabbits once a week.

Drunk skinheads tend to be the most volatile.

That story pisses me off so much.

Rottweilers are great dogs, but Im sick of these assholes turning them into killers, same with pit bulls.

Even nice dogs can go bad when you get 6 of them together. They get a pack mentality and begin to hunt.
