I haven't read the rest of the thread so this is probably a repeat, but John Kerry wasn't telling a joke or wasn't misquoted or anything like that. It's exactly what he meant to say. If you know anything about him, you'd know he fucking hates military men (even though he kind of was one himself).

Never said Bush was a brilliant president. He is definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but Kerry didn't misquote anything. He knew what he was saying. I'm not sure you are aware, but the president did serve in the National Guard. If you did know that then you are making the same kind of stament that is disparaging towrd military personnel. The implication being that serving in the Guard is not a worthy service.
I could accept Kerry's answer that he is referring to Bush, except that he nowhere mentions Bush or the administration. His argument also doesn't hold because I believe that Bush had a higher GPA than Kerry, so wouldn't that mean Kerry should be stuck in Iraq?
However, for the record, I don't care what John Kerry says about the military. I think his statement was uncool, and he's an ass. But I also think it's not really news. There are more important issues than this to be discussing. But the machine keeps turning, nothing ever happens that's worthwhile when it comes to politics anymore.

Actually I have lived in some of the highest per capita income cities in the world. Grew up in Naples, FL, lived in Jupiter Island, FL and Boca Raton, FL for a while, then moved to Palm Beach and finally ended up in Orlando and will be going back to Boca soon.

While Republicans and Democrats debate a misspoken sentence, more troops are dying and being wounded, and the situation in Iraq is getting worse.
